Father of the Bride was my second favorite album of 2019 behind Cheekface’s Therapy Island.  It’s every bit as good as the rest of VW’s catalog.

Does anyone else notice how, when you click on a link to a comment in your Profile, it just goes to the article you commented on and not the comment itself?

Grimes seems like an idiot and her husband is not much better except as opposed to just posting nonsense he actually makes his nonsense reality with his wealth and power. Your comment comes across as just wanting to attack women and seems bigoted and misogynistic.

Nobody knows what Communism actually is

It’s a straight forward sitcom executed very well with a great cast. It’s not breaking the mold (except for the fact that the cast is almost entirely Asian) but it’s got a lot of heart and earnest charm that’s pretty rare nowadays.

Asian-American here. Absolutely LOVED the show for the first 4 seasons. It was so funny, and episodes were short and easy to watch, experiences rather realistic to real life for me. Haven’t watched the 5th yet, but people have said it’s very unresolved and rather disappointing. After reading this backstory, I think it

Same! “Ah she’s going for that ‘beautiful actress wears no makeup for role’ Oscar”.

I was reading the Root article yesterday, and thinking to myself, “The A.V. Club is going to pick this up and be stupid about it, isn’t it?”

You know, AVC, you can’t regularly call Twitter a shitty hell website and then give in to its worst tendencies constantly.

This “story” is sounding more and more like typical internet hyperventilating.

“At that age [19], teenagers are mature enough to know what they’re being part of.”

I’m really confused here as if the parents wealth was never a secret, what is a real revelation here? That Kemper won a creepy sounding pageant when she was pretty young? Also yeah, she was 19 then, but apparently grew up in a sheltered environment and might not have been able to make certain connections about things

So she entered a pageant and/or attended some weird debutante event. Is there any indication that she was aware it had a racist history? It may be hard for some on here to believe, but googling the damn thing wasn’t an option in 1999.

I totally agree. Plus, they only have four albums, anyway, all of which were more or less critically acclaimed. It’s kind of weird to talk about their “greatest records” as if they’ve had this long career with some hits and some misses.

+1 for “dry snitching”.

There’s really not much of anything here. The headline and the beginning of the story made it sound like Erin from The Office was burning crosses and shit. Nope, she attended some corny debutante ball thing that has a racist past. Most of the US has a racist past.

Am I missing something? I see no connection other than the origins of the festival or party or whatever that would tie her to KKK leanings. If dumbass Black people wanted to join that bullshit, that’s of course their choice but I don’t see where she was personally connected to the KKK or even racism. I also think it’s

I remember how excited I was to see The Dark Knight in the summer of 2008, but when I went to the movies with a friend, the affable middle-aged man selling our tickets would *not* shut up about a new film called Iron Man. He said it was the cinematic event of the summer and so on. We both sort of laughed him off,

I remember the joy I felt watching the first Avengers. It was such an electric feeling in the cinema and the crowd went apeshit when Tony first turns up next to Cap.

Since the incumbent is a Democrat, it’s going to be interesting to see what the GOP does. Trump said he’ll run and since the GOP has taken a stance of “anyone who opposes Trump in any way whatsoever is PNG” that might scare off a lot of otherwise legitimate contenders, but there will definitely be at least a handful
