I’m generally a Stewart/TDS apologist, but this is easily the stupidest thing he’s ever done. WTF.

I’ve seen it. Decent and entertaining stuff but it no way does it deserve an Emmy nom. The show’s style and tone is basically Atlanta with gun violence with Glover’s character a facsimile of Earn.
I haven’t seen it either, but it was well-reviewed. It did have the feeling of something critics liked more than the general public, though.
If political punditry is pro wrestling, and it is, this shit was Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair having a match in their 70s.
This is the first MCU thing that’s even remotely piqued my interest in the past year or so. I am faintly cautiously optimistic.
Yeah it feels like Winter Soldier, which is still one of the high marks for Marvel imho

It’s Rabin! Now bring back Sean O’Neil, Tasha Robinson, and Zodiac Motherfucker!
Good god! They really are reviving the old A.V. Club, aren’t they? What’s next? A takedown review by Ignatiy? The long-prophesied return of Snarkmaster General Sean O’Neal himself?!
This ignores everything outside of the interview itself, which is frequently a sticking point for me in these conversations. IGNORE the “last name got me an audition” talking point. You still get to live in the town where the industry exists. You still have a place to crash just about everywhere you go. You don’t have…
This show is an all time favorite of mine. I have not brought myself to watch it again but I intend to do so. What emotion and power.
I can only think of one other show (Halt and Catch Fire) that only gets better episode by episode all the way to the finale. It’s hard to commit- but this may be my favorite show of all time. I can’t think of any other that has stuck with me in every way after finishing it. It can bring back those initial emotions…
There aren’t a lot of shows where the weakest episode is still better TV than almost anything else on contemporaneously but this show pulled it off. Carrie Coon is amazing and this for me is the best thing Eccleston has ever done. The finale wrecked me & I still think about it often.
The tone of this piece is bleak. And accurate.
We’ve been kicking that idea around so... probably. Almost definitely.
I DIDN’T STOP DOING RANDOM ROLES UNTIL 2022!
And I just have to say, the possibility of a resurrected AV Club makes me so, so happy. The old school original version was one of the very best things about the old, pre-enshittified internet, and that it could rise from the ashes like a Phoenix gives me hope that all is not yet lost.
It’s a federal holiday
It’s great to be back in a bar band, baby.
(Sincerely, thank you! Delighted that new management has made it possible.)
It’s good to see you again and have you back Jesse! Miss your writing and commentary.
