Because if they didn’t, 90% of them would be pointless.

The cast for this is too good to not earn somewhat high expectations. But they’re going to have to work hard to avoid The Americans comparisons, and that’s a huge shadow to be living in.
I recently rewatched all 5 Bourne movies, the original 3 for the umpteenth time, the last 2 each for only the first time since I saw them in theaters. The original trilogy is still perfect, my all-time favorite action franchise.
Love a union victory, me.
In better AV Club days, there was a recuring joke in the reviews about this show being called Goon. Still, I think I watched nearly every episode of it, and really enjoyed it.
I could've sworn this movie already came out.
I’m not sure if your comment is aimed at me or at yesterday’s piece that was hardly “reporting” on his comments, but using them as a jumping off point for arguing, bafflingly so, that Scorsese is a less important voice in film than Marvel movies (which, again, I am actually a big fan of).
They don’t have any writers working for them anymore. They fired them a couple years back. Now they have “content” creators and AI-created articles.
If your opinion is Scorsese is overrated and Marvel films are actually more important to film history, you shouldn’t be writing about film. And I say that as someone who…
Yesterday the AVC published an article calling Scorsese an out-of-touch, overrated old dude. Now they publish this praising his career. What a junk heap this site has become.
About a decade ago, I saw Fleetwood Mac at Jazz Fest in New Orleans (yes, yes, Jazz Fest isn’t really a jazz fest), and it was essentially three straight hours of massive hit after massive hit. I didn’t even realize I knew that many of their songs. They played one new song and even that was decent.
It was an absolutely…
“God’s timing is always on time!”
I’m only just now getting around to watching the original series – halfway through the first season – and man does a fun-and-games version of it just not make any sense. None of the games they play are particularly challenging (that I’ve seen so far), they’re just kids games. What makes them difficult is the threat of…
Sounds familiar.
I love when dummies think it’s the writers who are responsible for the same old ideas being produced when in fact it’s studios who greenlight movies and TV shows. Studios hate originality and demand rehashes because they care about profits not creativity. It was the studios that wanted a Barbie movie. It was the…
I’ve been told this movie is Very Important and that this article I wrote about how it’s fans are engaged in harmful slacktivism is Very Bad:
Hahahahahahahahah
You really can't help yourself can you :)
Thanks for reading! I always appreciate when something I write really connects with an audience. Also, by participating in this conversation, you've helped ensure other people have seen the article. It's doing good numbers, you're a real mensch!
Well, that would be a smart (and oh so witty) critique if my article was a review or analysis of the film Sound of Freedom. But since that isn’t what my article is, as I’ve explained a few times now (and you would know if you took the few minutes to read it instead of writing silly, bitchy responses), your whole…
So, again, you’re arguing that I can’t possibly understand something because I haven’t experienced it, and then you say flat out you won’t read the article but you know it’s “incomplete and frankly wrong.” If you had read it, you would know that my discussion isn’t about the movie specifically, but about the culture…
