Lifehacker and Gizmodo have run a lot of articles on it, but I would say that the real treat that comes with 4K screens, for most people, is HDR capabilities. While 1080p sets are apparently capable of it, it’s just not a feature any of them bother with.

I’m one of the few who bothers with the highest tier. I have a 4K TV and T-Mobile, so we’re only paying the $3 difference. I’m probably going to drop down to the HD tier. With Marvel’s stuff leaving, I don’t know that anything else we watch really justifies paying the extra (Except for Stranger Things).
