This is a VERY well-handling car, even when not equipped with MRC. It is lower, longer, and wider (wider track too) than the sedan (which I own).

I've rented a non-Eco version, and the stop-start was superior to my neighbor's 328. I can't imagine the Eco version is worse. Otherwise a solid, though uninspiring car. I know I really didn't answer your question, but I don't think you can just make a chassis bigger without other penalties. Also, the Mustang can be a more luxurious car than the FR-S, and has to be engineered to handle the V8, so really the v6 and turbo-4 end up being over-engineered.

In order for some decent back seats (my kids and sometimes adults for short trips ride in mine), new IRS, new crash standards, and a reasonably low base price, some concessions have to be made, and it is in weight like most other average prices cars.

If you want an car just buy a damn German car. If you want style to go along with it, then Cadillac (or Jaguar) might be a better fit.
