Nice, glad I didn’t buy Control like I almost did around the holidays.

I gotta disagree. The aesthetic looks like the lovechild between NES games like Ninja Gaiden, Batman and Shatterhand.
I just finished it on a PS4 Pro. It was fine. Definitely had some jank but it’s not like it was unplayable. I’d say it’s worth it for $30-$35.
This is nowhere near as bad as Cyberpunk’s launch.
Hitman 3 doesn’t need a redemption ark like those other games you mentioned. They had bigger problems - broken promises in regards to core gameplay/features or glitches and bugs.
That “Alien Isolation/Amnesia” vibe only lasts for about the first third of RE7, for what it’s worth. After that you get enough weapons and ammo where it’s not nearly as scary. And Village looks like it’s going to be even more action-y. So while I’m sure it will have some sequences like Amnesia, I very much doubt…
Cool.
On Kotaku you’ll find some. The public at large? Haha, no.
Valhalla seems like it holds a token place on “best of” lists just because it has Assassin’s Creed in the title.
I’m torn as well. I get tempted by the hype but then I watch some Youtube plays and I feel like it’s not the type of game I’m in the mood for right now. Maybe one day.
I can understand either Last of Us 2 or Ghost of Tsushima not making the list but both? C’mon. GoT by itself is a better AC game than Valhalla is.
Yeah, I had to skip that part of the review. I don’t think the game’s “message” is really the point here.
Kinda feels like you approached this game with a massive chip on your shoulder.
I actually liked the “emptiness” of BotW (even though I don’t think it’s as empty as people make it out to be). It felt more natural and worth exploring.
I don’t understand why anyone would feel the need to get both consoles at launch other than FOMO.
Wish I could get excited about this game but it feels like I’ve played it all before.
I don’t understand why someone would want to get both consoles right at launch. Down the line I can see the argument for wanting both. But right now there’s just not enough games or major differences to justify two $500 purchases, even if you have the disposable income for it.
I’ll still take shorter loading times, but yeah, at one point they definitely made it seem like loading times were practically going to be non-existent.
I’m very much the opposite. My gaming time is limited these days so I often go for quality over quantity of games. And Sony exclusives tend to be of high quality, whether you’re talking about story, gameplay or overall presentation. Microsoft’s exclusive games are ok but it’s hard to get excited for yet another…
Personally, I probably won’t be jumping into next-gen until Resident Evil Village, which I assume will be the first half of next year. Every game before then is either coming out on PS4 or XBone anyway or it’s something I’m not really interested in.
