Not sure what you’re basing your assertion on that Japan’s courts are corrupt, but the World Justice Project Rule of Law Index has Japan at #14 least corrupt out of 142 countries. USA is #26. On Criminal Justice alone, Japan is #8, USA is #29.

Having worked for an OEM (and then at other much smaller companies that went through their systems upgrades with consistently terrible (but predictable) outcomes) I think it’s hard for most people to grasp how hard those transitions in the business are for companies that large and that multi-national.
