His interpersonal skills are somewhat deficient. You are right in that he calls a pretty good game, particularly on the bases. He’s just a red-ass kind of guy, like Buck Showalter. The “West Vest” has had a huge impact on the game, as the strike zone has shifted with the positioning of the ump. That alone could…
I get the feeling his list of regrets is longer than 8 characters.
Actually, that’s just another example of the well-worn spy trope “Code Phrase & Response”, where the spy says one peculiar thing to a previously unknown contact who then has to respond with a certain phrase.
The PGA is also very easy to miss because the first two rounds have been broadcast by Turner Sports the past few years (for some stupid rea$on). Turner is usually great at sports broadcasting, but I can’t get used to Ernie “The Elevator” Johnson calling par putts on the 6th green.
I thought the Brewer’s facility in Maryvale was one of the nicer parks in the Cactus League. Of course, the margarita squishees may have impacted my judgment.
Shouldn’t this have been posted to Gallopnik instead?
I know who might agree with MJ.
One of the delights of MLB.tv and MLB Network is seeing games from local broadcasters. A full 3 generations of sports broadcasting knowledge now, and we still get amateur fuck-ups like this every game. Astounding that companies are paying billions for the rights to broadcast, but then apparently hire community…
This wouldn’t be nearly as friendly if Houston was still the Colt .45s.

Be careful. I hear the tires on those carts are dangerously under-inflated.
Talk about “picking up your teammate”. It goes in the books as Ray getting Voit out.
I hope someone has counted up the “Rickey Runs” he scored: Walk, steal, advance on ground/fly out, score on sac fly. Those were always amazing, with the pitcher looking both pissed & confused.
They traded a burnt out reliever for a mop-up guy who they had already seen get shelled while wearing their uniform. It’s close, but to be peak M’s, Ramirez would have to be from Wapato.
Oh, he definitely cheats tee to green, and takes a lot of 6 foot gimmes, but even folks who say he cheats say he can putt. Mooch didn’t say he makes every 30 footer, just that he’s seen it happen. Well, he didn’t exactly say that, but, you know.
“the Brown’s kid already has a 1000 yd ....”
Honestly, I thought this was what he was trying to say. “Three” and “Thirty” just got mixed up in his wiseguy mouth. Trump is known to be a good putter, so 30 footers are not surprising. This might be the only part of the statement that isn’t total bullshit.
Only good thing about dressing your infant in a Browns onesie is not having to bother with a diaper.
