I saw it at a pre-screening early last year and I have to disagree with this theory... They were pretty set on their design, even going so far as to show is what the “final product” would look like.

Oh yeah, it definitely went through changes...

So, my wife and I were able to see this last year in a pre-screening thing... the special effects weren’t done and some scenes were still storyboard.

As I’ve said before, I always attributed any racist/stereotyping issues to be more a product of the times than outright racism... but I was wrong. lol

Nah, it’s ok! I just hate saying (practically) the same thing to everyone, so I wanted to warn you. According to some other commentors, he stepped back his racist stuff a bit when he got older, so at least there’s that? /shrug
