As a totally whitebread atlantic canadian i gotta say disney buying all media has had me pretty bummed. I loved shin godzilla and have fond childhood memories of kamen rider and godzilla flicks translated (poorly im sure) for American audiences.

I dunno about next console. Folks can't even get their hands on this gen consistently because of the micro processor shortage.

Just stop engaging with Nintendo. They make mediocre products that are more policed than edited and have zero incentive to make a more consumer friendly product or experience because of the army of fan boys you’ve been replying to.

You are mischaracterizing the nature of DLC. Updates are not DLC. The power to update games evolved after the introduction and market acceptance of DLC purchases.

Video Game publishers have been tracking our gameplay for years, theyve been tracking purchasing habits for decades. The other side of that coin is gamers. We have been unabashedly playing addictive and monetized games for years. (wether on not you buy it for 30 dollars a year later like i do, you still buy the game,

its more an issue of consumer perception and value added expense.

and on that same day a stranger will come along and be reductive for no good reason.

If unsolicited criticism scares you then I would stop using social media.

This all assumes the created ‘good will’ you mentioned would be somehow more valuable than the expense of added duty on your employees.

you made the same incorrect assumption as another guy. I would be considering my writing was to blame if you had been less edgy. As it stands i assume you were looking for some beef and thought you found some that turned out to be chicken.

I think you read that wrong. I was commenting on the growing trend of having various devices specifically for video games.

I worry many game obsessed individuals have loaded up. Just in this mostly empty thread there are 2 people who lament their inability to buy all three current consoles. This is completely rampant consumerism.

bigburito was sarcastic but essentially correct. What you describe is an added cost (through labour) but produces no profit.

I was talking with my lady about this last night. For just over a decade video games have been a sort of bell jar media but now that theyre popular the drive to higher profit is forcing hegemony.

ya its tough these days to tell. My rule of thumb is social media is interactive with other people through the media whereas traditional media interaction is external. (i.e. what did you think of the end of the movie we watched just now?)

im gonna make the case that nintendo’s success since the wii has largely been tied to public perception and the confusion is the fault of gamers. Its easy for us to forget but most people are non-gamers, so most people wont care how nintendo behaves in the industry.

Youtube is the last social media i use. Over on that site it feels almost like nintendo is trying to establish a presence, and it makes sense.

The aesthetics in from games are amazing, but they’re part of a much larger whole, and plenty of people have already argued that the gameplay contributes to the aesthetic so i wont beat that horse anymore.

when i played Ocarina of time as a kid one of my favourite aspects was chatting about it at school. About secrets yet to be discovered or how so and so had decided to speedrun or do a three heart run.

For me I just like surmounting obstacles. It’s true with everything I do. I just often choose a more difficult method because I want the perspective from the adversity.
