Thank you for continuing to call out Nintendo on this, and refuting the notion they “have to” do this. Somehow the “they have to do this” excuse still gets repeated despite the fact many other companies embrace thier fans. Going after covers of all things is particularly ridiculous.  Nintendo needs bad PR and

I had a similar experience with Mario Kart 64 last Christmas. I totally forgot in multiplayer the music goes away with four players and there are no CPUs.  Granted the game play holds up more than Goldeneye 64.

The challenge is finding something the fans don’t know they want. Just doing what “the fans want,” which is seldom a consensus, most often isn't enough to gain huge acclaim.  I'm certainly not saying this looks amazing to me, but I can understand why they try different things.

That is almost a non sequitur, or at best erroneously confusing animation design with the engine used, which isn't immutable.

Space is big. Almost incomprehensibly big. I’m glad they aren’t shying from that. Bethesda makes Bethesda-style RPGs. Why should people expect Mass Effect? There’s this constant clamoring for smaller games and shorter movies and shows. If people don’t like big things that put the burden of imagination on the role

Neither of those things are hard baked, and switching engines wouldn't magically make the animation better.

The anti-”Gamebryo” thing is more of a meme than a real concern. Computer programs aren’t immutable, and putting “modified” in quotation marks downplays that.  Most of it has been rewritten at this point, and fixing existing bugs is more realistic than throwing out decades of work for a meme (which they wouldn't do

I think the all comes down to the RPG part. Out of curiosity I made a Skyrim character and didn’t fast travel, and it was fun thinking up my character’s adventure over the days. Imagination to fill in the blanks. These games are not Mass Effect.

I never said it’s an excuse, and I was actually savage to Islam itself and Saudi Arabian culture in particular in my comment. But nothing is an excuse to be nasty. Fight the bigotry; don’t become a hateful bully yourself. And acting like his upbringing in a country that literally kills people for dissent has no

This has me intrigued. I’d rather they try and stumble than not try at all. I loved Subspace Emissary in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and I was interested in Tobal No. 2 until its localization never happened.  I love StarCraft despite having no interest in online or PvP.  If they pull this off they could create a subset

I think the point was the nebulous self-appointed emissaries of “the fans,” typically meaning “only people that agree with me,” will always find something to complain about. I don’t agree that technical issues don’t matter, but this does have me intrigued.

I believe it was Fareed Zakaria that said "Islam has a problem... today."  He listed all of the awful blasphemy laws and such, but was optimistic that if Christianity could evolve so can Islam.  I hope he's right.  What with bigotry branded as virtue also being something Putin is obsessed with, world culture has a

I don’t respect his view, but when you are indoctrinated from birth and pray five times a day with dire consequences for not appearing pious enough, I don’t think watering it down to “choice” is right. Vehemently disagree, and don’t tolerate the bigotry, but also don’t use it as an excuse to be nasty oneself.

I thought of this right away, with a big asterisk.  Not tolerating intolerance isn't a blank check to be hateful oneself, or to name call and glorify bullying which isn't okay ever period.  But nope I won't "tolerate" bigotry.  I don't care if the excuse of the bigotry is tragically misguided religion.

It’s a game. It’s not meant to be serious. You may as well criticize all violence in games with this angle. And just having fun with a bunch of characters is an affront now because money is a thing? I’ll have to agree to strongly disagree here. I mean come on, even animals understand play fighting vs. real fighting.

I don’t think it’s defending Nazis so much as said extremists often stopping just short of breaking rules and goading people to “call them out” in ways that do break the rules. Bad conduct doesn’t suddenly become acceptable depending on who it is directed towards, period. The “don’t encourage discussion of

It’s maddening, and especially difficult if they skirt the rules. I’ve been warned for “encouraging discussion of controversial topics” on Steam for saying I don’t respect bigotry even if the excuse is “cultural.” My first time seeing a swarm of bigots off hand was Star Wars Squadrons, with echo chamber topics

Yep, if you can still purchase even better.  I'm convinced there is a war on the single payment license, so that would make me happy.  I skipped the PS4 over this.

It’s astounding in a very terrifying way. I remember seeing Oprah interview a racist woman in the ‘90s and the talking points were almost exactly the same as mainstream “conservative” rhetoric. Especially attacks on diversity.

They represent glorified receipts.  There, simple.
