I prefer this over "statement characters." Queer people happen to be queer.  It doesn't need to define who they are.  By statement characters I mean ones that exist solely for representation, like that Mass Effect Andromeda character with the awful "I'm trans" speech, which I think they tried to improve in a patch.

Some of the characters have nieces and nephews too.  I'm not sure if some always did, but it sure makes the game feel inclusive for all ages when some of them are peers age wise to older players too.  That is assuming they have similar lifespans to humans, which I do assume.
