I have to give kudos to my parents because they’re quite tech savvy. Both are in their early - mid 80s but keep up with what’s going on. My dad has been working on/building his own computers since you could get the necessary parts from Radio Shack, so I think he’s always wanted to be in the know. My mom didn’t want to

I shuddered just reading this reply!

I had a co-worker who thought her iPhone (newest model, natch) had to be connected to the internet to charge...

I asked for the hardcover for Xmas. I never ask for actual gifts because my non-work activities are super specific and too expensive to gift. So if I don't get it, I'm throwing a tantrum like nobody's business.

I’d take President Velociraptor over 45 any day, at least the raptor would know how to cooperate with others.

Mariah has a much wider vocal range, Ariana is much more comfortable in that first soprano range. She’s got a solid voice to be sure, but this sounds less like a whistle and more like hitting one note. It’s a little odd, maybe it’s supposed to mirror the earlier parts of the song where the verse is staccato? I went in

I personally would not want my birth control to be dependent on my partner. It’s not a trust issue, aside from my controlling ex, I’ve never been worried that a guy wanted to knock me up. I would just be concerned that they might forget to take it.

My mom (Catholic) took the same pill I take, she only had my brother and me. Even more telling, my Catholic mom was an only child! And grandma and grandpa were very much the love birds. My grandmother was also an only child. My grandfather’s family made up for a lot, he was the youngest of 11, but there were huge age

I think the real take away is do what’s right for you, whatever your goals might be. For a lot of people I think it’s just getting to a point where they feel comfortable in their bodies, whatever size they might be.

Mmmm Wawa’s fresh pretzels.....

That makes sense, I guess I thought the problematic memes had been around too long be relevant in this context. Maybe I’m not giving pop culture enough credit, I always assume it’s got (and has always had) the attention span of a gnat.

I re-read “when has your fave???” a few times before realizing it was a stand alone phrase. Is it a rhetorical question or the newest version of “I can’t even”?

But I like Grumpy Edwardian ghost George! He looks like he’d haunt things really well.

Times may change, but a cat’s need to topple things remains the same.

This is my biggest complaint about people who bitch about someone’s English when it’s not their first language.

If I could turn the hands of time I’d give you mine. I got premie for my bday and a regular one for Xmas. These did not come from my parents, I didn’t like them and I really disliked baby dolls but I kept the damn things to keep the peace on my dad’s side of the family.

Now playing

Ooh I found a clip from the series. It’s by Helen Castor, but it’s not from one of her books. Goes into the more formal wedding practices that were favored by the Church in light of all the folks getting hitched in taverns and so on.

Looks like the 1980s interpretation of future fashion.

I saw him live recently. So fantastic! I could not believe my luck the to catch those guys on Fresh Air, I’m rareky near a radio at the right time.

From the brief documentary I saw (it was part of a longer series based on a book, which I can’t for the life of me remember!) both parties had to consent, no need for permission from parents.
