Jesus was the Latinate form of the Aramaic Yeshua. Yeshua is Anglicized as Joshua. Joshua was an important Old Testament (and consequently the Talmud) hero and the successor to Moses, and it would have almost certainly been a common Nazarene name.
I’m guessing you are aware of it, but in case you didn’t know, Nabin has his own Patreon-supported site now where he writes about esoteric garbage and things he is passionate about, and its pretty great:
So very much this. Crazy they could look for their best articles of the year, pick every article with the word “Chicago” in the title, select several overglorified newswires like the Cat Person hot take, and completely miss the best series the site had this year. History of Violence was a throwback to the kind of…
Well, I’m sure things haven’t changed THAT much. I mean, not as long as they’ve included one of my pieces in the...
How does it feel to spend that much time and effort on something that almost nobody sees on account of the terrible site design?
And they didn’t even highlight A History of Violence, which has produced most of the best content on the site this year. VERY well said. Case in point: Many no doubt know “The Maltese Falcon” and how it launched Bogart as a star in his own right, but do not realize that it was the THIRD attempt to adapt that story for the screen.
Yeah, at least this survived the switchover.
This is probably my favorite AV Club thingie.
Unless you’re playing with specific silver-bordered cards, the only distinction you really need is “opponents” and “not opponents”. Imperial Mask gets a bit weird, but you and your allies aren’t really a “team” in this format. As the name might suggest, its much more interesting in Emperor.
FIRST!
Ocean’s Eleven?
Well this is weird. My Daughter turns ten today. Her name is Lyra (yes, named after the protagonist of this book). But that’s not the weird part. My son’s name is Malcolm, apparently accidentally and pre-emptively named after this new character!
Salutations~!
So when can we expect “Chicago: See Kingsman: The Golden Circle early and for free”? That always seems to coordinate perfectly with these movies that you guys don’t like.
