Preface this by saying that I love the stuff you write and the value it brings to this blog Tom. But I have to ask - is that tone how you always interact with dealers? While you’re demonstrably much more intelligent than the average salesperson, you come across a bit, shall we say, unprofessional in the exchange.

How about some good ones for a change? I really can’t stand this site sometimes. You all harp on how bad dealerships can be very regularly and rarely highlight when dealerships go above and beyond for a customer.

theres such a thing as taking the joke too far, you know

Like the other commenters it’s just like I how remember in Gran Tursimo, when I pick a cheater car that’s way overpowered compared to my rivals. Don’t know how they run tech but we had a issue with the GTS cars cheating badly in NASA. Their numbers on the dyno were fine but on track they were walking away from cars

The sad thing is, this is how the world really works.

Thanks for the spell check. I’m an engineer so it’s not a standard function.

My good friend works high up at Ray Catena and they have to do this shit all the time. You would be amazed at how many foreigners show up and try to buy a Diesel Benz to have it exported it out. The Russians try to do it daily almost with Diesel GLs. Benz actually came to them and pretty much told them to do what they

If it was too soon then it wouldn’t have kicked in. Have a star to stick on for extra downforce.

Too bad they didn’t color match the seat belt, looks goofy with a bright blue one.

From what I understand the Germans (BMW/MB/Audi, maybe VW?) all LOVE to have you order a vehicle. The system is completely different from how American brands handle an order. I know for BMW, it’s a great process and pure profit for the dealer.

Most new mercedes have the option to debadge

Which is why everyone drives white, black, silver and tan cars. Ugh. Seriously, how can such a huge percentage of people not be able to wait 6-8 weeks for the exact car they want?

Indeed, indeed. On some luxury cars in the US it is too, but very few. Also virtually no Americans EVER order their cars, which Europeans may find unusual. We like instant gratification :)

I have been in New Car sales for a combined 10 years. I average about 20 cars per month. I never view any customers as ‘easy targets’ or dollar signs. I take my job very seriously and it is how I support my wife and kids. My goal is to provide my customers with enough information so they can make the right decision

Buying a Honda Insight is still the worst decision he’s ever made, a problem somehow solved by the second worst decision he’s ever made.

my time to shine!!! I worked for *INSERT OEM HERE* as a release engineer for weatherstrips, and DLO’s those chrome strips around the windows are not so easy to change color, they aren’t like a bumper, or insert on the side of the car. they are almost always stainless steel or aluminum usually stretch-bent or stamped.

Factory-backed posing. Have we really come to this.

I’m curious to know how much of a cut MB is getting from this.

Mercedes can probably do this, it’s easy to imagine an upmarket SUV maybe using the Pullman and Maybach branding to indicate its exclusiveness.

Get back to us at 45k or 3 years, whichever one arrives first.
