There probably won’t be a big issue over switching CCS chargers to NACS. Some key chargers may be modified to replace the plugs with NACS plugs, but I’d bet the majority will get switched when the charger in question would have been scheduled for replacement anyway.

Trunk is door for stuff, Hood is door for engine. That makes the Miata a 4 door. Get a Miata.

Didn’t a kid get dragged off to jail for pissing in a bush recently? Sounds Florida-adjacent...

Simply not an issue.

Saw what you will about Stellantis and the Gladiator, but RIP to the guy that lost his life. No one deserves to die a sudden, presumably painful death while on the clock trying to provide for his family.

Tesla isn’t a car company, remember?

And the Lyriq sold more and it still has Carplay.

add the Chevy VOLT and the BOLT being discontinued, it’s like GM WANTS to fail

Revealed 2 years ago? The vehicle was first shown as a concept car at the 2017 North American International Auto Show.

terrible range for that much too. Its a giant van with a large flat floor, theres no reason it shouldnt have 350 miles or range minimum.

As Apple continues to iterate CarPlay, it is demanding more and more control of in-vehicle systems. Apple doesn’t just want to “integrate” into the native system of a vehicle, they are demanding further and further ownership of the entire in vehicle infotainment experience. In some cases, that includes having control

The roll out of the non-CarPlay equipped units is happening with new vehicles, primarily the EVs. GM still offers CarPlay in most of their vehicles currently for sale. So it will be a while before we can measure any effect of this change on sales.

30% of EV sales maybe, but that’s still a very very small piece of the overall revenue and profit pie. Chevy sold 7234 Blazer EV’s through the first half of 2024. GM as a whole sold 1,290,319 vehicles in total in 2024 (US only).

Confirmed their best sellers still have CarPlay (Silverado, Tahoe, Trax, etc.). Their bone-headed decision to get rid of it will play out over time.

They won’t sell because of the build requirements for people’s unrealistic need for massive land yachts and unnecessary 300+ mile range.

Perhaps, but it’s not a great decision.  And the ramifications are not yet known as models with CarPlay are still being phased out.

Smaller, more affordable and longer range? Crazy — I mean, whoever heard of potential customers begging for that? /s

I’m going to guess the recent MBA grads thought they’d “cut costs” by eliminating the cheaper, volume sellers, and boost profits by building “high margin” stuff.

the only vehicle offered by GM currently without Carplay/AA is the Blazer EV. It will expand to other vehicles as they’re released though.

300, Charger, Challenger, all dead. Chrysler has 1 product (Pacifica around since 2016 with little changes). Dodge consists of the Hornet and the ancient Durango which will either go out of production or get replaced. The Ram no longer has a V8 (and a Hemi at that) and good luck trying to market to the same people
