Kudos to your neighbor, but the onus is on drivers to make sure they don’t maim or kill others. Full stop.

Sorry, but the time for stop-gap is over. The planet cannot sustain doubling down on gas solutions that will still be functioning in 10-15-20 years. We must end CO2 emissions as quickly as possible.
The Mazda5 (with a manual transmission) was a thing of beauty.
The USA is a mess because the GOP refused to pass a sensible bill a decade ago. Instead, they’d rather have a mess that they can use it to run against democrats.
Canada has been open to migrants for a long time. Its population just crossed 40 million (not because of its people reproducing either), and it’s the fastest growing G7 (8?) economy.
Americans are too selfish.
Ok, so there’s forced human trafficking (what republicans do) and there’s voluntary selection of destination.
Which is ironic since Musk is associated with EVs the most. And liberals despise him.
The US govt is doing none of those things. There are no mandates.
I will only rent EVs, but I have one (not a Tesla) and know how it all works. Doesn’t phase me at all.
PHEVs hogging plugs (when they bother to use them) are a huge problem for EV-only drivers.
Your example Escort is $23,415 in 2023 dollars.
So if the charging infrastructure is the problem, why are plug in hybrids the answer? So people drive around and never plug them in?
Way: is it in electric lawnmower or a planet destroying 2-stroke?
I wouldn’t say cyclists are wealthier. The spandex crowd, sure, but many people who don’t have cars (can’t afford them) and/or can’t rely on transit ride bikes to get around, they’re just go about their way and are not vocal about it. Plenty of low and very low income people, in fact.
Limit flights to JFK too. Maybe instead of flying an inefficient, CO-2 heavy 50 seat short-range flight, B6 can sell off that slot to a more efficient flight.
A few scofflaws smoking very visibly is no reason to keep the rest of us from enjoying our edibles.
They feel good too (endorphins)
I cycle and drive an EV. ;)
Just yesterday I stopped incredibly short approaching a crosswalk as the green light turned red, and my bike brakes screeched. The pedestrian about to cross in front of me heard the noise, and I was able to verbally apologize.
