If its so easy then why aren’t people doing it?

Because, believe it or not, Americans love being told what to do.  And if they speak up, the corporate overlords will make sure the PD will show up in force and shut it down.

The rest of the time, I don’t have to drive that much

I’m saying that plugging it in after every trip is a hassle many aren’t planning for. So the P in PHEV is more of a hassle than it is in a full EV because it has to be done so much more frequently to get the benefit of it.

So long as you plug it in every single day. That’s a hassle no one tells PHEV buyers about.

No EV is going to stop working after 3 years. You clearly don’t know much about EV battery longevity. Heck, they’re even warrantied for at least 8 years.  At worst, after 10 years an EV battery *might* degrade to 80% of its new-condition.  That means a 300 mile range EV might be a 240 mile range EV, in 2033.

If you don’t drive a whole lot then you don’t need an (PH)EV either. A gas car that barely ever gets used is just as efficient as no car or an EV. EVs are more efficient the more you drive it.

2nd Gear: I’ve been saying this for years. In fact, when replacing my 2018 3-series at lease end, I seriously considered a Plug-In Hybrid vs. a full EV. Sure, a full EV seemed the bigger compromise, but I quickly realized with a PHEV I’d get few of the benefits of a full EV (no GAS!, less maintenance) but I’d still

🙄

Agree.  And so many apologists in the USA who complain about the IRA’s rules for EV tax credit participation.  Biden is doing wonders at making America great.

1st: The west bowed to China, which basically required western manufacturers set up shop with China’s border in order to sell in its market. China then used / stole the IP to develop its own industrial giants, and now those same western manufacturers are fucked. It was all so predictable.

“Ken and Karen aren’t hardly contributing anything to global CO2 emissions compared to major sources.”

$7500 (which is what Nissan is getting from Uncle Sam on leases) equates to $208/mo over 36 months.  Maybe they should the lease price by THAT amount.

The news keeps getting better for gas prices, too.”

Oh everyone is well aware of how selective enforcement of rules and laws work in NYC. For example, NYC PD hacks are not democrats.

the correct jalop response

Sure…but it’s below the average price of a new car,  EV or ICE.

FWIW $48,490 in April 2021 is $54,805.50 today.

Tesla - the $35,000 Tesla is finally here.

Put the two together.
