I was not comparing the model 3 performance. Just the Model 3 LR and PS 2 LR dual motor, which just nips at 290 miles with the heat pump (see Edmunds review for proof).
I am leasing it because the tech is changing so fast. With solid state batteries perhaps being a game changer, I’d rather not get stuck with something obsolete in 3 years.
Maybe something to compete with, and undercut the “cheap” Tesla Model 3.
Annual miles driven (VMT) is about the same now, if not exceeding, what it was pre-pandemic.
I think you’re right. For even the small cars on the market now (Corolla, Civic, etc.), why would a manufacturer put “rare” chips in those when they can put them in Ridgelines and Tundras for double the profit?
doesnt fully remove the extra complications of the internal combustion engine. we went with the BEV, and havent looked back.

IMHO, every car should be PHEV. It still works even if you never plug it in.
