I really don’t think it’s true that buying a bunch of brand new electric drivetrains and retrofitting then into a bunch of random used cars would somehow be cheaper than purpose building a reliable vehicle that they will use for at least 20 years.

Absolutely correct take. We need to make the conversation about the real barriers to EV take-up and not on the fictitious. As someone in the market for a new car in the medium-term (3-5 years) I would love to go electric but almost certainly will go gas. The reasons aren’t climate change denial or that the electrics

Nope. Gas isn’t that expensive in Canada and this video certainly isn’t filmed there.

I’ve often thought it would be great for their to be truly private freeways, but put them outside of even the state’s ability to enforce speed limits, etc... Basically make a “Linear Raceway” under the same rules that govern track days at racetracks. Except instead of driving around in a circle, these “racetracks”

I just meant if you want to avoid the chaos of a city...

I think it depends where you live and what you do for work. If you live in a city where you need to enter it into parking machines for automated enforcement, rather than “pay and display” ticket type you probably have it memorized. If you travel a lot in hotels that usually ask what your plate number is for their

I like to imagine that all 3 robots were designed by teams competing with each other and the team that made the one that delivers the basketball just dicked around procrastinating until the night before and then stayed up all night to make it and then saw the other two robots and were like “dammit”

Although I wish we could get on this side of the world, I’m sure it will be Asian markets only since they are unveiling it in Shanghai. And, as you said, we don’t get these neat vans.

I think it is clear that this was just an oversight and whoever put up the historic sign wasn’t thinking about the implications and how it would make women feel today to see it in the press box. What really bothers me about the story is the over-correction of switching over to the PinkOut day photo.

Haha, sounds like it’s time for you to move to the suburbs!

See here’s the problem: You are saying that because it’s what you believe and how it has been in the past. When your bosses decide next month to sell the emails, you saying “but. but. but. I told them we wouldn’t!” won’t help one bit.

I love that the further EV technology progresses, the closer everyone gets to re-inventing the train. Like Musk with his toy tunnel running an SUV on a track.

It’s funny how one Musk company effects my impression of the others.

Do you have a source for the idea that Mazda lost money last year? According to their financial results they posted a 146-billion yen operating profit in Fiscal 2018.

Remember that most new car buyers aren’t so... particular... as those of us that frequent a car blog :)

I agree that they should make it the entry level, but they would never do it today. It’s crazy that the Beetle once represented an affordable car and then the new Beetle positioned itself above other models like the Jetta and all those fun little European cars they won’t North America have...

At this point I’m not sure which company will disappear first: Tesla or Boring...

It will be awesome when carmakers can integrate the same tech as the windows on the new Boeing 787. Rather than a shade it can just tint and untint at the press of a button. A moonroof would be an awesome implementation for this, and at its darkest it should be dark enough since it works well enough to block out the

It gets 300 hectares on a single tank of kerosene.
