Sorry, but this is a terrible take from both you, Erik, and Automotive News. Like seriously - the two weaknesses with a near universally acclaimed product launch you jokers see are:

Probably an unpopular opinion, but I still don’t see EV’s being practical for long haul trips. Battery tech just isn’t there yet. There’s a difference between being able to drive a long trip and doing so in a way that’s practical.
Did they drive late model sedans or 8-12 year old sedans?
I don’t necessarily love anything about the E-Type compared with other cars with big long hoods. However, I sure do love the look of cars where 50% of the vehicle takes place before the front windshield over most of the stubby cars that exist these days.
Part of the problem is coming from the differing heights of vehicles these days. Even if the headlight is aimed down/masked if the headlight is 3 or 4 feet off the ground because it’s on the massive face of a modern pickup truck it’s still going to blind me if I’m sitting close to the ground in a small car.
It’s funny but I remember the opposite. I learned to drive on a ‘95 Ford Windstar (yeah, I know...) and it’s gauge cluster lights were crazy bright when the lights were off (I assume so they would be easily visible in bright daylight, I don’t really know...) When you turned the lights on it was always dimmer, and you…
Wow this is a terrible take.
Sadly we never got the TourX in Canada. I would have seriously considered it, too. Other than the TourX, I don’t really care that the Regal is dead and wouldn’t really care if they just cancelled all of Buick outside of China.
Agree about the 401, but if you are travelling a lot between Canada and the US, just get a Nexus card. It lets you bypass most of the Canadian customs stuff, and also automatically enrols you in US Global Entry and TSA Pre-Check. You also get priority screening through Canadian security.
Don’t get it. You’re just connecting from Europe/Caribbean/South America/Asia to Sask via Pearson? How is that hard? These days they check your luggage right through as long as you’re on Air Canada and if you have Nexus the customs process is a breeze. Walking gate-to-gate at Pearson with a quick Nexus breeze-through…
I’m always so confused when I hear people’s troubles with Pearson. I fly 100+k a year and Pearson is my home airport. I love it. Granted, I haven’t flown domestic from YYZ in years, nor transborder, but I am consistently shocked at how fast I can get from check in to the gate for International flights. I haven’t had…
Just to make sure we put blame where it’s due - this is all US Customs Border Protection. There are no customs checks by Canada when you are leaving the country. This is US pre-clearance, and it beats arriving in the US as an “international” passenger. If you fly a lot you should really consider Nexus or Global Entry,…
“easier entry/exit - If you have a hard time getting into a sedan, should you really still be driving?”
Not only do I not feel traveler’s shame, I actually feel traveler’s pride and joy.
One thing I wonder about - and it could totally be old wives tale - but isn’t there an argument to keeping your tank on the full side in cool/cold climates? The reason I’ve heard is that an empty tank during the warmer daytime temperature is full of air with water vapour inside. Overnight when temperatures drop the…
If someone really needs my seat, they can speak with the flight crew. If the flight crew agrees, they can upgrade me to Business Class and I’ll happily vacate my Economy seat.
Nah, gotta wait 25 years before it’s legal to import and sell it in the USA.
I just don’t understand why VW can’t innovate. The new Golf is still useless for towing a trailer from a semi-truck.
Yet perfectly acceptable for 99% of the driving that 99% of people do each day.
