Emergency Alerts in general are more irritating than anything. In Canada we cannot turn them off (I think I’ve read that you Americans can turn off Emergency Alerts and Amber Alerts individually in iOS settings?).

I think they’ve jumped the shark. There was a reason beyond simply greed that the taxi industry got regulated in the first place: it provided safeguards that if you got in a taxi the the driver was safe, the car was safe and the whole enterprise was covered by adequate insurance.

You’re a little off with your logic here... With your drywall analogy you are talking about the damage to your hand, which is the equivalent of the other guy’s car.
I think it’s people who have cars that require 91, but maybe they had an unexpected shortage of money after getting stuck with the car. Taking their chances that if they use 89 they’ll get away without any knocking. Balancing out saving money while still not going all the way down to 87.
