In that case, should it even be a matter of such fierce debate if one Black actor portrays Cleopatra after a string of white ones?

This is just marketing. It’s not from the left somehow manipulating media to “improve representation” or the right fighting to “preserve our hallowed traditions.” It’s just corporate Disney doing something innocuous with IP they own knowing it will gin up articles like this one, then back-and-forth comment threads…
Everybody has to do something with their time. If it’s not real stuff, it’ll be made-up drama. I had a job once where there was almost nothing to do, and the in-fighting drama between cliques was outrageous. I moved to another job where people are drowning in work, and there’s hardly a peep of drama. Not enough time…
I’m looking forward to the articles complaining about the rush of customers during Black Friday. I wonder why companies want so many customers????
Very sad I even read this article. I have heard this rhyme, but never imagined it had a different version. Too bad the original version has not disappeared from everyone’s memory.
How sad that Big Johnson from Die Hard has gone around the bend. I guess we’re going to need some more FBI Guys.
“if you are to be a good person you must not be masculine.” The article above explicitly says this (well, for white heterosexual men at least):
Texan here. Maybe the global trend you are referring to is about bluebells, but the “whole thing” in Texas is about bluebonnets, our state flower. You can carry an assault rifle around on your hip here, but don’t step on the bluebonnets. Unless you’re taking Easter pictures of your kids I guess. https://www.southernliv…
22 yo and 26 yo family members each went separately to NYC in the last two months and saw Little Shop of Horrors AND Phantom. So there must still be some interest in those traditional shows even amongst the younger set.
Exactly... another example is Pat Sajak’s daughter running “Wheel of Fortune” social meda. https://bestlifeonline.com/pat-sajak-daughter-maggie-news/
Unfortunately my current mechanisms are highly prone to error: look at obvious presented social cues, guess, then correct if informed the guess is wrong. If we think the designation matters, I wish a more definitive less error prone frangible mechanism like one of those you list was available, especially in cases…
What should define “women?” Not trying to stir up controversy, genuinely curious. Is it purely an arbitrary social construct from history with no objective defining trait? Or is there some attribute that distinguishes the concept?
I’ve used a small bug zapper INSIDE a house that had an inside fly problem. No other beneficial flying insects present inside the house. It provided a very satisfying noise for each fly it dealt with. Any issues with this?
You’re right there’s no excuse on this. Unfortunately I think this call probably went this way:
Yes, I’ll trade my broke for his broke
And why would you think Best Comedy Album should be awarded to the funniest comedian? It’s not like it’s an award for the best comedy album. /s
This whole article is a muddle. Is “unscripted” in reference to the joke (like the subtitle claims) or to Rock’s “Will Smith slapped the shit out of me” comment (like the body of the article infers)? And why this tweet from a video director at The Daily Beast insisting the joke WAS scripted? I don’t know which…
