This feels like the next True Detective. Soderbergh directs, produces, and edits all the episodes of this show. I expect this show to maintain quality from beginning to end, and the second season has already been green-lit y'all, so just sit back, find a way to watch this spectacular pilot, and enjoy the series!

Absolutely. The analog synth soundtrack pulsing and filters opening and closing against the backdrop of a 1900's hospital at the turn of the century gave it a unique gothamesque steam-punk vibe. Not sure if I agreed with the choice at first, but after a second watch, I think Cliff Martinez nails it.

That was super-trippy to watch a show set in the 1900's set to some tangerine dream-type Friedkin Sorcerer music. It almost made it seem sci-fi. Really liked the pilot. I'm all in!

Keep going with it. It's a very rewarding puzzle box.

Kate, do you get to review the season to the end no matter what? I hate that there are only 6 comments on this ep but just wait until Party Favors. ;)

It has only been five years since he's refused to do it! Give him more time! I still remember when he called waterboarding "dunking". Exactly, Hannity. It's just like bobbing for apples upside-down with a blindfold on and tied to a bench with a rag shoved down your throat. Err. Hmm.

Colbert should counter with an offer for Hannity to do the youtube fire or ghost pepper challenge, that is, if Hannity isn't a coward girly-man. That should do it Colbert, draw a line in the sand by calling him that if he doesn't do it and if he still won't even do the ghost pepper challenge to prove he's a man then

Haven't watched this yet, but I'm curious if anyone watched Ep. 6 of The Honourable Woman? That was one of the finest hours of television I've ever watched. Sucks we have nowhere on AV Club to talk about this mini-series.

Do people still say burn? I guess so.

Obviously if you're some kind of massive heroin addict straight out of Trainspotting I would've assumed you'd skip the intro to drug use 101, but no, you decided to stop off for a sec and leave a note in ad hominemville. Ass.

Hannity holds the record for the world's longest stick up his own ass. That's a fact. Read it in Guinness. ;)

It's not drug buyer's faults, it's the U.S. government's fault for criminalizing damn near everything and the increased militarization and criminalization of things makes it all the more dangerous. If it were up to me all drugs would be 100% legal. People fight over everything, at some point down the line of any

I've never felt more of an emotional connection to myself and everyone and everything around me as when I drop molly. All of your psychological walls drop and all of your emotional scars melt away and you lose about 75% of your ego. I highly recommend it. Think of it like a 5 hour mini vacation inside your mind and

Molly isn't going to hurt you unless you mix it with other drugs or get over-heated and are not drinking enough water or get a bad batch. It's one of the best feelings in the world, and a must for edm festivals, but you have to be a responsible drug user. Start with small doses and if it feels ok increase it until you

How so? He'd been interviewed probably 6 or 7 times prior to this one interview where he got cornered into admitting he'd read conspiracy against the human race and he had never mentioned Ligotti once. I think it's a fair assumption to guess he would've preferred his main source of inspiration for Cohle's character to

He would've never even mentioned Ligotti unless the interviewer hadn't specifically brought his name up since he'd read his work. You don't find that strange or odd?

I feel very bad for Ligotti. Pizzolatto clearly swiped his style(and even some of his words) and wrote it for Cohle's character. When you read the previous philosophers Ligotti is reacting to in the conspiracy against the human race they don't really express their views like only Ligotti can since he suffers from deep

The drunk part of a drunk driving accident is irrelevant to me. People shouldn't get behind the wheel and drive under the influence of any drug, they shouldn't text, put on makeup, etc. Are you in favor of also banning cell phones and makeup as they cause accidents too?

Why does it need to be an excuse? Why should consuming anything be illegal? Would you have supported prohibition too? Just curious. People who want to get high get high. Plain and simple. No law or enforcement of those laws ever made a dent in any drug use so what's the point besides ruining people's lives?

Not if you're high. =P
