One of my favorite memories so far is of watching “Beetlejuice” for the first time, on VHS with my mother. I literally don’t remember her ever laughing so hard or so long before or since, as she did at the “Day-o” scene. When the shrimps came up and grabbed their faces, she literally screamed with laughter.

She’s a TEENAGER and her mother is right there, telling her NOT to say the name. Of course she has to say the name.

Thank you. I was just sitting here thinking, “Didn’t they already do this in the 90's?” Glad to know I didn’t imagine it.

we should not judge movies by their marketing.

Every movie has the exact same PR blitz, we just don’t notice when it’s for a movie marketed outside our demographic. But people don’t talk like this when it’s a total stinker - they do the Madame Web press tour and basically apologize over and over for the movie.

Why don’t they ever bring back or remake good shows, like ‘BJ and the Bear.  Now there’s a concept I can’t get enough of, a man and his monkey.

Fine by me. I don’t get the people being all “Who the fuck cares about Vision?” because like who the fuck is Peacemaker? Except that show ruled. Who the fuck is Blade? Oh, 2/3rds of those movies ruled? Okay then. You can make a lesser known comic book character work. If the show is good the show is good, and I prefer

Avengers 5 was originally intended for this year. Covid & the strikes alone were enough to knock it back to 2026; it’s a miracle that their other delays & the Majors drama haven’t delayed it even *further*.

This Vision show has been in development since WandaVision ended. They’re not tossing out things they were already working on; they’re just spacing out the releases more & not greenlighting as many NEW projects.

I don’t care what anyone says, Vision is a great character, I want him to redeem Wanda, and what has me in more than anything else is Terry Matalas. The 12 Monkeys series was excellent, and he somehow made the worst Star Trek show into something I’ve always wanted. Dude spins gold. People had doubts about Wandavision,

I’ll never get the “no, don’t touch the perfect ending of Logan!” thing. Sure it was a good movie, but talk about a downer ending. And a downer opening. and a downer middle section where our hero desperately tries to tell his dying friend and mentor that he wasn’t the one who brutally murdered him.

So here’s the thing - the Bay Area is like that with Fernet Branca, which is disgusting as a shot but really nice as a slow-drinking aperitif. I get the impression Malort is even more astringent and off-putting than Fernet, but I assume it’s the same situation - there’s a way to enjoy it that isn’t “pounding a shot

Mentioning Paste and Chicago in the same article triggers me. I miss A.A. Dowd. :(

I think the article meant to say “Vampira” instead of “Vampirella”? Not that a lot of hetero males/lesbian females wouldn’t mind seeing Lily Munster in Vampirella’s usual stripper-ific attire...

But Hawkeye was pretty great, right?

Keep in mind we’re getting The Leader, Red Hulk, and Cap planning to form the Avengers in Brave New World. Those things excite me. Red Hulk is basically their way of bringing back a savage Hulk. It’s very old coke new coke they’ve laid on Smart Hulk thick the passed few years and honestly I’m cool with some red and

Fair but we know Sam’s Cap will mention forming new Avengers in his film. Be patient. That one is in the can.

Now playing

I’ve linked an honest review and recap of the wild history of the making of this film and efforts to get it screened below. Definitely worth the 20-30 minute watch.

As a kid and now far in to adulthood, I have been entranced by Marvel Comics and the modern mythology they encompass. Star Wars was great but it still doesn’t have the breadth of stories and characters that Marvel has. It probably never will.

There have been 10 MCU movies since the TV shows started. Of those, only two reference the TV shows in any meaningful way (I’m excluding “Quantumania” since it explains everything you need to know about Kang within its own narrative, and that Kang is really a different being from “He Who Remains”). There have been 11
