I had one of those as a kid. Remember Tapper, where you'd have to serve beer to the increasing customers before they got to you? That was my game.

I'll look for either of those next time at the library. BTW, thank you for suggesting Azusa Plane. I listened to a few tracks, downloaded Where the Sands Turn to Gold, and I really like it! Really cool guitar feedback stuff.

If Netflix gets the series for streaming, I'll watch them.

I have listened to some Mogwai, I tried Young Team but I couldn't get into it. Do they have a better/more accessible starting point? I haven't heard any of the other ones, I'll check them out.

I stopped watching at the end of Season 3. I thought the beach wedding was a good finale, for me.
I hope to see Busy Phillips in more stuff, she was a delight whenever she was on screen. Also, apparently in real life she's a big indie rock fan, so, points for that too.

I've heard of both of them but know nothing by them. I'll keep them in mind, thanks.

Really looking forward to listening to this. I can't get into post-rock instrumental bands like Tortoise or Explosions in the Sky, but I love these guys. Their music has such intensity.

"THAT TREE IS FAR AWAY!"

I was reminded of The Onion's issue right after 9/11, with the headline "God Reiterates 'Thou Shalt Not Kill'".

So you're not the real Grimace?

And sailors.

The singer from The Sonics has one of the most awesome screams ever, on songs like 'Psycho' and 'He's Waitin'', it's hilarious and awesome at the same time. 'Strychnine' is brilliant: 'Wine is red/poison is blue/strychnine is good/for what's-a ailing you!'

I've read Do Not Sell At Any Price and it's very good. I can't get into that kind of music at all, but to read about people going to swap meets, record fairs, finding something rare at a low price is really fascinating. I know that feeling - when seeing something like an out of print CD or Criterion Collection DVD in

"First of all, it's Y-Y-Zed…."

"Hey, isn't that the wrong letter on his chest?"

I saw that tour too, I knew nothing of Okkervil River's music, but they were good! Will was wearing this brown suit, and I thought, "this dude looks like Napoleon Dynamite."

I'm wondering what their Rock 'N Roll Hall of Fame lineup is going to look like, or who's going to show up besides Billy.

I only saw them once, in '96 on the Mellon Collie tour, but it was after they kicked Jimmy out of the band and replaced him with Matt from Filter. It was still a really good show, and even though it wasn't all the original members, I got to see them play behind their best material.

I never listen to Machina, but this song (which is great to jog to), and the next 3 on the album are solid. I much prefer Machina II, which, when it was first released, you had to send a SASE and stamps to a place where they'd burn you a 2-CD copy (I know because I did this). Cash Car Star, Vanity, Slow Dawn, Real

I've tried multiple times to get into TVOTR - listened to this album, Cookie Mountain, and Dear Science - but, aside from 'Staring At the Sun' and 'Family Tree', none of their songs have really connected with me. I did see part of their set at Pitchfork Fest in 2011, watched about a half hour and they were OK.
