As far as I know, none of those other projects have had the creator(s) specifically say that they didn't want a sequel. He's upset because a sequel is being made when the creator doesn't think a sequel is warranted. That doesn't make him a hypocrite.

Nearly anything could give it more closure that that. Closure is about seeing character arcs to their completion, not telling us where everyone ends up.
