Actually, I pay PS+ to get free games and discounts every month while multiplayer is included for free. Have been able to purchase a number of games at steam level discounts thanks for PS+. I dont think Xbox One can say the same thing about Live Gold.
GTA5 tweet wasnt even a SCE division of Sony in UK, it was another Division under the Sony name. So it is slightly excusable since they werent quite aware of the state of video games. Probably best other divisions dont try to talk out of their knowledge. In this case it just made them look a little silly.

yeah, Im sitting on some 18 months of live gold unused because I havent used my xbox in forever. never even turned in on this year. At least Im good for if/when I ever decide to get an xbox one.
yeah, by close friends they mean people you know and trust. not "authorize random people on the internets that can compromise your account security." but it would be a pretty big note include the fact that up 10 devices can be authorized per account. otherwise part of this press release makes no sense.

funding is mostly to pay some of the higher quality stuff in there like voice actors and composers, rest is just living expenses til they finish the mod. After that, no charge to download and play the game and will continue to be free once it is compelete.
