it’s a humble brag. he has too much disposable income so he sent his car to someone who tweaked the settings in the computer that controls things like the air and fuel mix proportions to get a little extra horsepower or some other performance enhacement. it usually is just decreases fuel economy and increases

as opposed to paying with what? a check?

I’d say the problem is companies tend to dramatically undervalue employees. Wages have declined significantly in relation to cost of living over the last few decades.

yes. if you want to borrow a different book, amazon will remove your access to the previous book.

I’ve had that multiple times too. Sometimes multiple weeks before shipping for “in stock” items.

My problem with most of these add-ons is, you get what you pay for. The vast majority of the videos, music, and books you get access to is utter crap. 90-95% pure crap. This is especially disappointing when you rack up some credits for no rush shipping only to find out you can only use it for kindle books sold by

training, which is a form of practice, also sucks.

if you’re a Comcast customer struggling to find internet access, and someone nearby is a Comcast subscriber with one of their company-issued Wi-Fi/Router combo devices, you may be able to find “XFinity Wi-Fi” on your phone or laptop, log in with your Comcast account, and surf the web.

Any time Android has a sync or backup option, I’ve always seen plenty of options to turn it off, only sync when connected to wifi, disable background sync, etc. I find it hard to believe they would force someone to use their back up. it’s not like this is apple or something.

for LED at the same brightness setting this is true. white letters on a dark background is easier to read with the screen brightness turned down hence the power (and eye strain) savings with dark themes. I find when you turn down screen brightness for white background with black text, the background starts becoming

headaches are a symptom of altitude sickness like HAPE. It is real enough but rare when you are under 12,000’ in elevation. Unless you are high in the mountains for extended periods, a headache is much more likely to be due to dehydration than lower atmospheric pressure due to altitude.

coffee has caffeine, which is a diuretic. that doesn’t mean the water in coffee doesn’t net a positive level of water intake but it also doesn’t mean that caffeine and therefore coffee is not a diuretic.

Nuun is a good product. I use it regularly. The tablets are great for refilling a bottle away from home too. Water with a splash of lemon juice, a pinch of sugar, and a pinch of lo salt (half sodium chloride, half potassium chloride) works well too.

it really depends. there is some data support the idea that you hydrate better with sports drinks. the data i’ve seen is that is from the calories in the drink, not the electrolytes. sugar molecules are bigger and therefore the cell membranes have to open up more and more water molecules get in when it does. it’s not

there was a bug in 5.0 with the flashlight not being able to be turned off if the screen timed out while the flashlight was still on. this was fixed in 5.1 and only affected some handsets.

This. I postponed upgrading to 5 because of the ultra bright white backgrounds that suck my battery dry and make my eyes bleed even with brightness turned all the way down.

I know this is a super old comment. Life insurance on a child makes sense not only to cover funeral cost, but also I cannot imagine being able to handle the most basic functions of caring for myself if my child died. Being a productive member of society and going to a job while grieving for something like that would

double butterfly coil. works great for climbing ropes and extension cords alike.

And who is to determine the level of bias in this merit based system? How do they determine the level of bias? That’s process is just as subject to confirmation bias as the research itself. The fact is, this merit based system already exists. They are called grants. The better your methodology, the more likely you

Confirmation bias isn’t a big issue in my opinion. As more and more data is collected, bias gets washed out. The graph depicted shows that happening. Bias is just one of the many variables that needs to be considered when analyzing the data.
