It was a 2011, I'm not sure when it was changed though.

Why not a pre-2008 Honda? You got me curious with that...

I know the feeling. When we got our puppy 2 years ago, I considered the high costs of various problem. But I figured the worst case I'd be paying $1-2k and that I could handle that. Turns out my dog had severe hip dysplasia and needed a hip replacement when she was only a year old. With surgery and all the associated

I need to get a motorcycle and then go up there. I don't have any sporty cars at the moment to take advantage of it. :(

That's awesome! Less pavement would be good though.

It would get more viewers than F1 in America!

Seems like they should just move it to another mountain, it's not as if we have a shortage of them.

I'll have to look into that. I also need to look into some sort of off-road race (like a mini Baja or Dakar or something). Something I can do in my Xterra. Although it's my DD so I guess I couldn't break it too badly.

I'm not sure I agree with the oil change intervals. 10k is the highest I've seen (and would do) in any car. But I agree with you for the most part.

Baby boomers getting by writing fluff until so they can retire in a year or two.

Well said! Your post contains all of the things that frustrate people our age. The same people who told our generation that the only thing that mattered was going college, are the ones saying now how stupid we were for racking up student loans for a worthless degree. The sames ones criticizing our work ethic and lack

I disagree completely. There is always a post like yours, and it always seems to be one of two things: an older person with the "get off my lawn" personality, or a younger person trying to prove they're different then rest of their generation.

Haha, my shirts get plenty of oil. Which I have to replace them so often...

That's a great picture. Now I want to do it... I had a Miata that I did Autocross with briefly, and really wanted to give Rallycross a try. But I haven't had a suitable car for the job yet. I'm also not sure how big it is in Denver.

Pretty much my favorite thing in the world is to first take it to the shop and get a quote, and then see how much cheaper I can fix it myself. My friend's brake proportioning valve went out on his Tacoma, and the shop quoted us something like $2k to fix it. We fixed it for roughly $20 with an old valve from a

Maybe you wouldn't have had to go through 2 transmissions if you knew how to maintain them. Zing!

I have known way too many people like that. And I really, really hate to be sexist about it, but they've all been women. I'm guessing it's mostly about how women are almost expected to be clueless about cars in our culture, and not an inherent quality women possess.

I've always been in the "do what the manufacturer recommends as normal" camp. For my Xterra that's 7,000 or something. My Outback was 7,500. Wife's Corolla was 10,000. But with the cold in Denver, and the way I drive my Xterra (off road, snow, traffic, soon to be towing), I'll probably do it more frequently. I doubt

They're young. I don't think it has anything to do with generation. They're just more careless and less knowledgeable. Not to mention the inherent bias in the "study." It's probably more informative about the judgments of auto shop owners than it is about car maintenance.

I suspected it might be something like that, but wasn't sure.
