Ten and a half years later and I still have this bookmarked and watch it occasionally.

Just FYI, a correction: In both the base Assetto Corsa game, and with the Sol mod, the time-of-day is dynamic, and indeed tuneable (with a multiplier).
The future headline “Fittipaldi and Schumacher to drive for Andretti-Haas Racing” has a very, very nice ring to it. Lots of echoes of past glory and a good footing in some up-and-coming talent. Get on it, Reality. Make this happen.
For me, it’s a tie between:
Texas.
I sent them a link to my Saab sonnet from 2011, but of course, my comment has not been “approved” yet. Shrug.
Since you used a picture of a Saab, I was surprised that there wasn’t a link to this post from the days of Ye Olde Jalopnik 4.x, where the COTD was “the last Saab sonnet”
Or you can pick up Assetto Corsa on Steam, download the L.A. Canyons mod, and race anything you want, up and down the crest, day or night, without endangering human life or being a massive douchecanoe on real public roads.
Frankly, as a fan of “Chris Harris on Cars” throughout the /DRIVE years and beyond, I’m 100% OK with “Top Gear” turning into “CHoC” with a BBC-sized budget. And Chris really enjoys cars. And when he enjoys things, Chris tends to get loud. That’s fine. If we get the same top content in between, it’ll be good.
Rally is one of the last forms of motorsport left where fans get close to the cars
Simona’s lack of performance in IndyCar wasn’t because of her driving ability; it was because she stuck with Lotus and her car kept blowing up. Did any of the Lotus drivers even break into the top 10 in a race that last year?
Never change, $kay. #CotD
Is CotD still a thing? Can we give this a #CotDNomintations?
At casual glance, this appears to be, straight up, a 2010 Mazda 3. In lines, design, and purpose, it’s eerily similar to the slate-colored family workhorse at the end of my driveway. The almost-Aston front grille of the Ford has even been distorted in this generation to almost look like the “happy guppy” front end…
Matt is great, and had good chemistry with the others, but I’d imagine anyone who has been watching Chris Harris since his YouTube days will be pretty confident in his ability to take the reins as the #1 presenter.
When reached for comment, Teo Fabi responded “I feel you, bro.” (not really)
Most of the Gymkhana videos have been not much longer than trailers themselves, so the fact that this even has a trailer video suggests something… more.
You have to love the super-dramatic background music of the ad, too — so hilariously out-of-place behind visuals of a factory assembly line and a light pickup truck trundling around a city.
