The 3DS wasn’t planned as a major change and making certain changes would have broke the existing systems/controls. The Switch will be the first new portable console since the original DS. So let’s just wait a few months to see.

How dare Nintendo expect to get paid for their software?! Those monsters!!

To be fair, the 3DS hardware is 6 years old and is only a slight change of the 12 year old DS hardware.

Chances are that they are ramping up for the Switch and the 3DS is on the back burner of production. Switch releases in March.

Really, the market will decide. Either the Switch will take off and people will organically flow to it or the Switch will bomb and then they still have a 60 million 3DS userbase to fall back on. There’s a reason that the big reveal is in January AFTER Christmas when the Switch launches right around the corner in March.

There are no guarantees. What if they had that mentality with the Wii U? They’d be broke right now. Remember SEGA?

There is no master plan. They are a small company in comparison to Apple or Sony or MS. They scale their production on what they can handle and don’t waste money on shortfalls. That’s it.

Well outside of the Wii U, every other “gimmick” has sold very well.

Usually, it isn’t just an issue on hiring more staff. It’s usually that there physical production can only handle so much. They are nowhere as big as Apple who would have no problem opening up a few new giant factories. And that all costs money, which means it raises the cost of production which impacts how much they

Nintendo actually handles its own production and they space out builds for the long haul. Instead of some industries that blow money to temporarily increase output (then layoff/fire extra staff, blow tons on new equipment that goes unused after the big push, etc.), Nintendo stays to the same plan all throughout. That

The New 3DS is definitely more powerful than the regular models.

Chances are their factories are ramping up production of the Switch (due out in March) and not as focused on making 3DS units.

The Switch will be the 3DS replacement if it sells well. They wouldn’t announce it as such because of the recent Pokemon release and holiday sales but make no mistake, it’s most likely their goal to make it the single system going forward. That’;s why they are keeping mum until January, after the holidays for a system

Dragon Quest Builders

I feel the same. I loved the series and could use a break for a while. 5 games in like 7 years is a huge amount of content.

Did you block at all? As a Dark Souls player, the first thing i do when approached is block and dodge an d learn their moveset.

They certainly fanned the flames with salacious articles. It really comes off as disingenuous to put up articles building the hype then insult said readers for getting their hopes up so high. Let me state: I agree that believing in any hype blindly will set you for a fall. But Kotaku is complicit for continuing the

Didn’t Animal Crossing already prove this point a long time ago?!

Actually you are right as well, pricing was also a big factor. Failures are usually a mixture of reasons,

If rumors are ture, Nintendo is portable first going forward. The docking station is an accessory and they certainly haven’t made any rumors for another full blown console. They have stressed going on a unified path with software which means its the same experience for both portable and console, so I’m sure you can
