Hmmmm, that is a very mixed review.

Besides being a visual and conceptual feast, Doctor Strange was also the first superhero movie in years to earn the time spent on the hero’s origin story by making the resolution to the protagonist’s arc central to his strategy for beating his adversary.

Yeah but you’re not a hipsterish asshole looking for clicks by decrying how far above this “popular” movie you are.

I’m right there with you.... I thought it was one of the better Marvel movies to come out. It certainly beat Avengers 2 for me, and is actually tied with my two favorite Marvel films... Ant-man and Guardians of the Galaxy.

No, you aren’t. Just don’t rely on the writers here to be the arbiters of what is good and what isn’t; you’ll end up with questionable taste at beat.

I really enjoyed Doctor Strange, didn’t know it wasn’t very well regarded.

Mine, too. Did it usher in a new age of the genre? Cure diabetes? Put a man on Mars? Nope. But I sure as heck had fun watching it, which I did not expect going in.

You were not. Considering how often some of the writers take a dig at it though, I have to wonder if the “cool” kids are on the Marvel backlash wagon now.

I think its 90% on Rotten Tomatoes would suggest that it’s on SOME people’s “must watch” list. It’s definitely on mine!

Man, Doctor Strange was fun as hell. And yes, the wandering accent was part of that fun, but by no means the ONLY part. That movie was a good use of my time.

Was I the only one that actually really liked Doctor Strange? Aside from the general grumbling about origin story cliches, I enjoyed the movie immensely.
