I’m a millenial who grew up on violent media and it’s still a little too much for me.
Not sure how KH3 is vaporware. It wasn’t actually announced all that long ago. It’s not vaporware just because people *assume* it’s in development.
I see objectification and tired design. Which might even be okay if there was even one other female character who wasn’t there solely to titillate the (presumed male) player.
I was going by the charts underneath that. Only 5% of Japanese players said they stopped playing because they completed the demo. 90% said they stopped playing because they disliked an aspect of it enough to quit. That’s pretty substantial.
All she does is waltz around with big fake breasts and visible thong and make double entendres. That is literally the only female character in the demo. The complaints are totally warranted.
I like how Japan seemingly hated the demo, but are going to buy the game anyway. I liked the demo a lot, but I won’t kid myself, even if I didn’t I would have probably bought it. Dat Final Fantasy :-/
When GamerGaters say they want “objective” reviews, what they mean is that they want reviews that only talk about things like frame rate, controls, FOV sliders and *maybe* design if you can do so in a very dry manner.
Isn’t that because of how good the characters are, though, and not just the coolness factor?
You know something’s wrong when Christian fucking Bale is telling you to cool it.

Saying “The following review is subjective because of x, y and z” does not make it objective. There are some objective things you can point out about a game — if it’s literally broken and doesn’t function as intended, sure, you can objectively point that out. You can say “This game has a lot of pixels. So many pixels.…
There’s no such thing as an objective review of art. Only reason TB thinks he can be perfectly objective is that he sees games as “products;” not creative works, but as widgets to be consumed.
Ego masturbation.
Why? He wasn’t responding to criticism. He was happy because TB is awful. I don’t think he gives a fuck if TB reviews his game, and I share his opinion.
I don’t think anyone, TB included, has a ‘responsibility’ to review anything, for whatever reason. That said, his logic is absurd and silly, which is not surprising coming from him.
I’m not sure if these writers honestly believe this, or if they just know it sells. I get it. People crave an easily understandable answer. Same deal with diet/fitness advice. “DO X, GET Y RESULT.” Sadly, life and people don’t work that way.
Any relationship guide that has a simple list of “THIS IS WHAT MEN LIKE/WANT/NEED” or “THIS IS WHAT WOMEN LIKE/WANT/NEED” can be safely thrown in the garbage. Fuck that prescriptive nonsense.
A lot of these are actually pretty good. The Shut Up and Jam one (oh, for the days when B-ball was still legal...), the Dragon Ball one. That N64 ad is WAY too busy, though!
