Yes to all of what you wrote. ICU nurses are indeed “front line” but I think what a lot of people don’t understand is that the “second” and “third” lines are also working with COVID patients, and often with less resources than what’s available in the ICU.

As one RN to another, I agree. Although it’s often well meaning, to call RNs or any healthcare worker “angels” or “heroes” is just another way to dehumanize us.
