Type III is a death trap.  I know it’s a joke, but seriously.

Traction Avant?  Seriously though I used to think FWD was lame, but then I drove my dad’s Sentra Spec V in an autocross and realized that they can be quite good.

I think most flying “Zeros” are actually converted AT-6 Texans used in the movie Tora!-Tora!-Tora!

Yeah seems like a lot of trucks run quite a long time though.  Now we have to keep them running as new ones are too expensive!

Yeah but not exactly apples to apples.  You would think a c-channel might actually be better than a boxed frame for rust as there would be less chance of water collecting in the frame.

I don’t really understand why the Tacoma is considered the truck to get. Toyota has never used fully boxed frames like Nissan, yet I bet 9/10 folks would tell you the taco is tougher. Also, the Tacoma is a weaker truck (than the Hi-Lux) that they designed specially for the U.S. market. I guess they know suckers when

My aunt had one. She loved it’s utility, but many are they put together poorly. The GM interiors from that era are a joke. The engine bump in the passenger footwell is impressive. Such an awkward rig. Too bad nobody make something similarly sized now though.

How did this guy pass inspection?  Exposed terminals?!!

I don’t know I think they could have made the grill a little bigger.

I’d much rather have a manual also, but if it’s gotta be an automatic, might as well be a cvt.

Ah, here we go. This article says the years of the project:

Sometime in the 90's Four Wheeler magazine had a project DJ-5 and they converted it to 4wd.  Unfortunately, with a little googling, I have not been able to track down the articles.  Here is an article refrencing it, but it doesn’t give the year or issue!!  Probably in the mid 90's.

I rode in one when I was in Chili.  It seemed like a nice truck, diesel 6-speed, etc.  In fact it seemed like a pretty good copy of a Japanese truck.  I just want to know why somebody would get this over a Toyota or Nissan.

Remember that the 1st gen and 2nd gen were basically 6cyl Celicas.  I think the first gen and maybe even the 2nd gen were actually called the “Celica Supra.”

I can hear these things flap every time I shut my Frontier’s door pretty hard.

In my opinion they are all an unnecessary attempt at making an automatic transmission car seem “sporty.” Truth be told, 99% of drivers never touch the things except when parking or putting the car in reverse. Most manufacturers should eliminate the floor shifter in favor of the column or really just go with buttons or

I was thinking the same thing.  Why waste a much rarer GT body when you could just get a late 70's mg for like nothing.  Or at this point you could just get reproduction fiberglass body panels, zip tie them on and call it a day.

Very cool trailer. Way overkill of a truck for it though. You could pull that thing with a sedan. My grandpa had a 1980's 35' Avion trailer. Funny thing was that the manual showed it being pulled by a large car, like an LTD or something. Imagine somebody doing that today, not that there are any cars made that could

It’s hard to look actually cool in a 60k car.  Most folks will just think you wasted too much money on your car.  I say get a 30k ride then put 15k each in your kids college fund.  But maybe I am getting to practical in my old age.

Compared to average Japanese cars, they’ve been poorly made since at least the 80's. My family had a few rabbit pickups and a vanagon in the 80s. Vanagon never ran right from the factory. My dad must have replaced the door handles on his rabbit 10 times in 20 yrs. Luckily parts were easy to find. The Rabbits were
