Exactly. Who the eff doesn’t know this?

I’m with you 100% If it’s not a manual who gives a shit. Might as well be technically interesting which a CVT is and an auto most definitely is not!

What about the “missile hazard” inherent in any hatchback, wagon, etc? Anything you put in the back could possibly kill you in a wreck, from the dog to your tools. Not a problem in a sedan. I think writing off this entire segment is foolish at best, and I’m no fan of sedans.

How hard was the diesel to swap in? I’ve heard of this swap before, but always wondered. Did it require custom mounts and a transmission addapter?

A 20 yo Maxima of course.

So much Nissan hate on this site lately. It’s a dumb commercial, so what?

Would be awesome if it was a rebadged mitsubishi, like in the good ol’ days. Fiat already sells a rebadged mitsubishi elsewhere called the “Fullback.” Not sure how that would work since Mitsu is now controlled by Nissan.

Ahhh XJs, gotta love that rear seat. Perfect for your double-amputee friends.

Isn’t the Tacoma basically as old as the frontier? Sure it’s had upgrades, but look at the cab, it’s the same since 2004. All they’ve done is change the grill to make it more butch. And also the tail-lights. Engine wise I don’t know.

What’s not to like about the Frontier? I may be biased, but I think it looks much cleaner than the Tacoma. The current gen came out in 2004, which was a long time ago and it gets criticized for this in the press, but oddly the current Tacoma is basically a facelift on a similarily old platform and does not receive

Here’s a nice colt:

Why do folks care so much about hard plastic? You plan on taking a nap on your dashboard?

I am so vehemently opposed to putting fake shift points in CVTs. What was so great about traditional automatics anyhow? If there is no logical engineering reason to do this, then don’t do it!!! Just to appease the automotive press which can’t handle the CVT drone that most owners probably won’t even notice? It’s

Maybe on paper, good luck ever cracking 20mpg on any pickup.

I get what you are saying. I’d want a 5.9 cummins. I’m sure one of these things could swallow it. If it ain’t diesel don’t bother.

You can rally any car. If you are just getting started get something small and inexpensive. I bet the Mitsubishi Mirage would make a good rally car. I am not joking:

I sat in a new one once, probably a GT. I couldn’t beleive how small and cramped the interior was. I put the seat all the way back and everything was just awkward. It barely fit me and I’m only 6'. The reach for the steering wheel and shifter was just off. But i’m used to Z-cars which just get the driving position

It also depends on the car you want. We bought a new Impreza because finding a good deal on a used one was close to impossible.

Hard to go wrong with the old Nissans. They are abundant, reliable, and easy to work on, especially if it is a 4cyl. Ultimate would be 80's turbo-diesel mitsubishi 4x4 but good luck finding one of those.

I honestly think the vq30 maxima with a stick is one of the best cars ever made!
