I’m not buying it. 80's japanese cars had every bell and whistle. Still way more reliable mechanically than any luxury european car from the 80s. Complexity doesn’t have to be unreliable.

Very well put. In the 90s a Nissan Maxima with the VQ30 had 190 hp and went 0-60 in about 7 seconds. It was considered fast and the best in its class. Today those numbers would be ridiculed by the automotive press. I blame them for much of this.
You mean this Miata?
What degreaser do you use? I switched to one called “Oil Eater” ages ago which I really recommend. No more petrolium bases stuff like Gunk. It’s just a strong detergent and I wash it off with a hose.
I read some article that they are actually pretty desirable for some folks. So much so that their resale value is relatively high. They are hideous, sure but it’s kind of awsome that Nissan pulled the trigger on those in the first place.
Pretty sure I could make it up any Forest Service road in a Crosscabriolet, which is about all most “real SUV” owners do with their rig anyhow.
Mom had a VQ30DE maxima, it was actually pretty easy as the manifold had holes in it that you could get at the spark plugs. I think that changed with the VQ35. I feel like Nissan at least sort of tries to make their cars easier to work on, or at least they did.
Yeah i guess that’s right, but I still prefer the ease of working on an inline-4, or a straight six for that matter. Everything’s usally just easier to get at. Unless of course you are talking about something like a 944 turbo.
We had Rabbit pickups on our farm for 20 yrs. I’m sure there would be a market for something like that again today.
Kill the V6. 4-bangers are easier to work on anyhow. Ever try to change the spark plugs on a modern V6? usually not easy
I don’t see the point of a shifter at all in any type of automatic today. Put the dang thing on the dash and bring back bench seats!!!
I’ve always thought of tow ratings as sort of a recommendation. Like my Frontier is only rated for 3500 lbs but I have towed more. For a rig this size you would want a regular double axle equipment trailer with it’s own brakes. A double-axle flat-bed is extremely useful to have anyhow.
I don’t really see how Prince would have had much influence on the first L20 due to it being release in ‘65 and Nissan bought prince in ‘66. I always thought Prince had more of an influence in the U20 in the 2000 roadster, but I could be wrong.
Having worked on old Datsuns and Mercedes’ I am thankful that Nissan didn’t copy the canister oil filters or the exploding timing chains. A more bullet-proof engine has maybe never been made at such a volume than the Nissan L-series.
I wish I could get my wife to do the same thing, but I have prettymuch given up. She just has no interest.
The M422 Mighty Mite had a V4.
This looks so similar to my 280zx. Somewhere I have a 280zx book that Nissan published in 1979 that is full of pictures and propaganda just like this. It’s great. I’ve got to find that book!
The diesel was only available in the last gen of the rwd 810 Maxima. It was the LD28 I believe. You can swap it’s crank into a gas L28 to make a stroker, 3.1 liters I believe. I’ve only seen one in a junkyard, many years ago. I used to think it would be cool to swap an rb25det into an old rwd Maxima wagon. Another…
There is usually a workaround. Does your macbook have a Broadcom chip? I put Ubuntu on a 2008 macbook and I think it had a Broadcom chip and I was able to get it up and running without too much fuss. As a last resort, you can get a usb adapter, many of which work out of the box with Ubuntu.
Did you all see that this thing will have a power lift-gate standard? Man I hate power lift gates.
