Nissan did this on purpose, specifically to make it easier to work on. Also so that it could share many parts with the titan.

My grandpa had a z31 automatic n/a. It was pretty lame, but at least it talked to you. These cars are pretty bad stock. I have a 280zx and it handled really poorly until I got swaybars. Exactly. I’m tired of so-called enthusiasts ripping on CVT’s. If it’s got to have an automatic, might as well be a CVT. Traditional slushboxes are no better in my opinion (they all suck).
