This is the kind of laptop/phone combo I would be able to swallow buying off-contract (assuming it's not more than $600... that might be pushing it.)

When did Simon Pegg turn into a blonde Ricky Gervais?
This watch would match so well with my CR-48!
Unless 6 of those 30 hours of special features are the original non-CGI movies....no thanks.
@xaronax: I actually don't hate the 2.2 (or 2.1) stock browser, but my recommendation goes toward xScope. Dolphin was really slow rendering pages - xScope is lightning fast and the new version of the UI is fantastically minimalistic.
The Porsche and Jag batmobiles feel like Batman must have been hanging out with James Bond a lot.
Many of these are portrait, and none larger than 1600x1200, but these classic Bell Labs photos have made for a fantastic day of rotating desktop backgrounds.
@MrFluffyThing: I'm only running an o/c'd 9600gt at the office and 8600gts at home. It's defo time to replace the 8600, but I'm quite happy with the 9600's performance at the software/games I run.
The statistic I want to know is, what are the chances of another wise-cracking T-Rex popping into existence?
Pre-order games I always do Amazon because they offer release day delivery for a dollar AND you can cancel at any point up to the time they ship.
@uncle_jojo_lives: Personally, I'd sacrifice the thinness for a slightly larger battery.
The Eee Pad and Memo seem reminiscent of the UMPC form factor. I'm not really sure if those failed at launch or failed to launch, I've never seen one in the wild (or in stores, for that matter) before.
@blyan is not on fire: If it's just a skin on top of Windows 7, I probably would agree with you. Desktop OS's have no place in tablet world. But if it's a larger version of Windows Phone 7, I'd buy that.
Steve Balmer is holding a copy of Twilight in his hands. Let's just leave it at that.
@oinari: No, MakeMKV handles the decryption - no third party software is required. But the resulting files have not been recompressed, so they are HUGE. You'll use another program, like Handbrake, to squish them into something more manageable.
@RabidTurtl: Yeah I always drop my rips down to 720p for archival. None of my TV's do 1080p anyway and I don't expect to ever be rich and famous enough to own a 50"+ plasma.
@Whitson Gordon: Yeah that is true. No reason to have control if you're using an iDevice, which can be so finicky about video compression that having lots of settings would be a bad thing for the non-power users.
Has anybody seen this before?
@drwatz0n: Mine came on 12/14. Maybe Flash got updated - That would explain why video performance (on flash videos) improved without any OS updates.
