How did you feel about The Spy Who Come in from the Cold? I read it about a year ago, really enjoyed it.

Finished up Flashman at the Charge earlier this week. It's hard to choose a favourite Flashman novel so far. They've all been incredibly consistent, and despite the awfulness of his character, there's still something oddly comforting about reading them. I guess I just haven't read any sort of ongoing series like that

Honestly, it comes down to two things for me. One is a severe aversion to jump scares. It's likely due to the interactivity of a game (and that damn first person camera angle) but I can't shake the feeling that horror games are most often trying to scare you through a jump scare, or through the fear of a jump scare,

Not a very good lead in for Bitch Hunter though.

Oh look, another first person horror adventure with no combat.

Fair, they weren't too bad during my first playthrough because at that point you're just along for the ride, it wasn't until I tried to replay it did I realize how annoying they are.

Did you find the cut scenes as grating as I did? I found that game impossible to replay because I quickly realized how broken up all the action is by the annoyingly edited and unskippable cut scenes.

Chrono Trigger, gumbo and The Witch sounds like the best weekend ever!

Just read it, thanks for the heads up! Eggers seems like a really agreeable guy, I like his approach.

Arcade Fire's Reflektor had a pretty sweet hidden track that was like 10 minutes long. There was also the weird thing where you play the last track and in reverse over-top of the original version.

I mentioned in the staff picks article that I saw The Witch on the weekend and it was incredible. I really want to see it again. I also saw an AMA with Robert Eggers on Reddit after and he seems to have a great attitude and a lot of commitment to his craft, I can't wait to see whatever he puts out next.

I'm gonna have to second all the YouTube comments and say that that track goes pretty hard for something from 1965!

That actually sounds kinda neat!

It'll be worth the trip!

I love both Dark Souls and Cyndi Lauper but never though to combine them. Sounds just crazy enough to work.

I recommend The Witch because I saw it earlier and holy fuck, it was incredible. I'm not gonna say it was the scariest movie ever, but it was definitely a film firing on all cylinders. The dialogue could have sounded so corny if the actors weren't up to the task, but it all came together in such a natural way, also

That Vine Theater Experience thing sounds wacky. Is it like one of those obnoxious "Let's talk over the movie and laugh" kinda deals? But otherwise, this film sounds awesome, I'm gonna seek it out ASAP!

I just want to say that this is a great article and reading these comments has been a total blast. It's been a nice combination of nostalgia and trivia that really makes me want to bust out my DS and finish up X.

I always felt the opposite. In my school, Squirtle was the shit and everyone has Blue version. I was like the only Charmander player. And we knew about the anime first so it lead to arguments about whether Blue or Red was more "official", and so fighting Red at the end of G/S was the most vindicating feeling for a 10

That's why he's the best, using Charmander in the beginning is a test of your skill.
