Brutal legend is a game with a soul. It’s flawed, but tries very hard to be special and all it’s own. It stands out as a unique experience among a sea of derivative spectacles.

Honestly, Pokemon. I had to think thoroughly and I realized I would get way to stressed out and terrified of the game worlds I love like Skyrim and Fallout. I remember as a kid watching Pokemon everyday after school and thinking “Im so jealous Ash just gets to walk around the world catching Pokemon and adventuring.”

Skyrim, Hyrule, or Zanarkand!

PS2 was the best of the Phantasy stars. It was FF7, 6 years before FF7.

Secret of Mana’s world, all the extremes, the holidays and a neat little mushroom Kingdom nestled in the forest.

Also, it must be mentioned that, for all the love heaped on Final Fantasy VII’s “shocking twist” of a permanent character death, Phantasy Star II did it first with Nei.

Definitely going to be Albion from the Fable series for me. It was so quirky and full of charm. What I wouldn’t give for a new Fable.......

The world of Chrono Trigger. With the time travel mechanic, we get to experieince its history through the ages. We see how the world evolves and even change it. That would be the world I would want to live it.

I’d like to live in any of Actraiser’s town, ‘cause I’ll have a master who will get rid of all my problems and then, after everything is at peace I can say to him “f#&k you! I don’t need you anymore”.

I was going to say EverQuest but he ^ said it better! +1 for Norrath!

Such a fantastic game. It’s a shame this series never gets the recognition it deserves. Christ, looking back at all the games that symbolize my childhood really makes me realize they just don’t make them like they used to.

Oh also, did I have a laugh when I figured Josh Kain’s job and background as I grew to understand what it meant (I could never really figure why his attacks never worked before I understood english lol)

Never did I think I’d see a huge Mother Brain display from Phantasy Star II on front page of Kotaku. How nice! I was maybe 4 or 5 yo when I first played these games and english isnt my first language so it was a tough game to get through at first, but it fascinated me. I came back to it every years after, my english

Probably nostalgia speaking, but Britannia from Ultima IV to Ultima 7. Seeing the towns become more and more fully realized with each sequel, with the land’s evolving history and all the recurring characters, it was always so exciting to play each game as it came out, and so welcoming to return to that world. Like a

This is difficult but I have to go with World of Warcraft. The world is so huge they had to add a new world (Argus). I’ve played since vanilla and every zone is just so cool and memorable. From Org to Undercity, The Barrens to Booty Bay, Pandaria and Wrath zones, Dalaran to Nagaland (both of em) are just awesome.

Anything Donkey Kong. <3

Unequivocally, Mass Effect.

For me it’s a tie between Mass effect and Borderlands .

My favorite game world? Suikoden.

Which version of it? Tactics? FFXII?
