This was my first full calendar year of sobriety and there is a Sephora near where most of my meetings are so yup, VIB Rogue this year and I don’t know how to feel about it. Pride? Disgust? At least it wasn’t booze?

Right. What I meant is that alcohol lowers your inhibitions and you do the stupid thing. The woman in question was a racist before the alcohol entered her body.

Well, speaking as a recovering alcoholic, I don’t think it automatically makes you a garbage person! Though untreated alcoholism certainly doesn’t help with the whole fun racist outburst and assault thing.

They weren’t denying their African ancestry. I think the point they were attempting to make is that saying “Well, I come from Africa and that’s it” as a Black American negates the truly American history and ancestry we also have. Like, duh. We have African ancestry but that isn’t all we have.
