I remember being fairly young during that whole thing and because that aspect of it was such a big joke, I thought the issue at hand was how embarrassing it was for all involved, not the fact that he was raping a child.

And, for that matter, those who use themselves as the gold standard for "true" victimhood and deny that of anyone who processed theirs differently.

He is entirely right that victims of sexual abuse are at heightened risk of ending up committing it themselves, and entirely wrong in his apparent implication that that gives him the equivalent of a note from his doctor.

Summer of Sam has its share of loud, knuckle-dragging meatheads but it has its share of sympathetic Italian characters too, considering the main cast is entirely Italian.
