I think in a better-received season overall there would be more people talking about how Ani has been pretty remarkable as a character in terms of addressing the complaints about lack of depth in female characters in season 1.

I really get a sense of Farrell pouring a there-but-for-the-grace-of-God element into the performance and it serves it very well.

I like his and Ani's dynamic a lot and I kind of wish they were the ones road-tripping, although who knows, maybe it'll give Paul a shot at being more interesting (especially since his grunting, conceal-don't-feel-don't-let-them-know macho crap is exactly the kind of thing Ani has no time for).
