But the idea of a ‘main battle tank’ implies that there are other types of tanks. I’m not sure why this wouldn’t be considered a tank that’s not a main battle tank.

Strictly on design? I’m not sure how you beat some of the cars coming out of the early 60s. No they weren’t great performers or particularly safe by todays standards. But they looked - great. For my money it would be Jaguar.

So let me get this straight. It’s a plastic egg wrapped in silver, with a knockoff of the Oakland A’s logo etched on it.

Not to mention the excuse to use the word “objet”

I don’t hate any CUVs. In fact I quite like them as both vehicles and products. They allow people to scratch the ‘SUV itch’ without having to accept a lot of the compromises of full-on SUVs (size, weight, handling, cost, economy, efficiency, etc.). In other words, far from ‘secretly not hating’ a particular CUV, I actu

I just want to say that I’m very impressed with how wealthy you are.  Would you like to tell me more about what you can afford?

Depends on the location, depends on the road, depends on the city. It’s tough to make general statements - but overall I’d say that sensible policy can lead to a very clean, effective and efficient combination of both.

Shit... paying 7% interest on a depreciating asset. You’re just hemorrhaging money at that point.  We have two cars.  One we own outright, and other being leased, with the lease coming up in 10 months.  If things don’t change, I suspect we’ll either buy out the lease or go down to one car.  Because there’s no way I’m

I guess I get it - and maybe I just need to really drive a performance EV - but to me I almost don’t want an EV that isn’t serene, comfortable and laid back.  I want the noise and feel of internal combustion in my performance cars, and if I can’t have that for any number of good environmental, financial, legal,

OK, I really, really like this car as an everyday driver. It’s an EV, so I’ve already given up on spirited driving with it - calm and serene is the way to go. Keep something ICE powered and light in the garage for weekend fun.

I grew up with a first gen 4Runner where you could do that. Incredibly cool. But, of course, very difficult to put on and take off.

Please tell me you don’t honestly think you made a reasonable argument here. The point is simply about being self aware. And what I see, incredibly frequently, is an inclination towards condemning what other people enjoy while completely ignoring or justifying their own problematic behavior.

This is the problem. it’s popular to crap all over the cruise industry because, yes, cruises are problematic for a whole host of reasons. But if you were to suggest to the people doing that crapping that maybe a lot of the stuff they like to do is also problematic, they’ll do all sorts of mental gymnastics to justify

I mean... you understand that they do dock and everyone on board disembarks, right?

There are a lot of things that do that.  Many that you and I probably enjoy.

Came here to say exactly this. Current horsepower numbers are crazy. The only reason most of these vehicles even stay on the road, is because of the litany of engineering and computer science miracles that are constantly compensation for a lack of driving skill and care.

I mean, based on the image, it looks like that’s exactly what it’s going to do.

Call me crazy, but I think that there’s a bit of selection bias here.

But what about my God-given right to hammer the throttle and send 4000+ lbs of metal rocketing forward at whatever speed I damn-well think is appropriate?

But that’s exactly what he said: “Cars are for fun”.
