It’s not a matter of if kids “can” learn to audition, this is how it’s done. That is a fact. They do it like this in LA for films too.

How on earth does the longer quote make it better?
A cookie is not all that much better to deprive a kid of! These kids are seriously deprived and that cookie probably looks unbelievably tempting- it would even to a kid who has tons of food available to him/her. The kids being auditioned in orphanages have no idea about the f...ing movie or what it’s about.
Then why does she say, “AJ: And I think, I mean they didn’t know.” As far as the argument that it was maybe explained to the kids- by who?
Why is a former Heroine Junkie more credible
She was married to Thornton when they began the adoption process for Maddox. They announced it together and Maddox was given the name Thornton initially. They separated and she finalized the adoption as a single parent.
Maybe they didn’t let hungry orphan slum children go without eating. Also, your attitude toward poor children is egregiously insulting.
I think what gets me is that if she hadn’t cast a Cambodian child then we’d, rightly, be upset with her for that, but she did cast a Cambodian child and we’re upset with her because because we don’t like the casting process. How did they want the casting process to work? Realistically? Were the kids supposed to bring…
Yeah as a recovering addict seriously what the fuck.
Yeah wtf?! I’m a recovering addict and even went to jail for it. I guess I’m never to be trusted or credible again.
People can dislike who they dislike for whatever reason, but by the same principle, I will definitely judge people who call her a homewrecker or the like and snark on her adopting three children.
And the full transcript is clearly different from the Vanity Fair summary. Now I do think this was on accident and perhaps the Vanity Fair author doesn’t realize how what they intended to write and what they actually wrote significantly change the presentation of the process. But VF editors have no excuse, especially…
My Gawd.
She adopted them long before she married Pitt, and only the third adoption was finalized (but was already in process) when she and Pitt got together as a couple.
I’m going to go ahead and guess you’ve never explored adoption options. Adopting as a single woman, it would have been cheaper, faster, and less parental-rights entangled to adopt abroad. In short, it is frequently more practical to adopt abroad rather than in the US.
This entire thing is stupid. How exactly do people think children audition for movies? And what the fuck is wrong with people that they think “make-believe” is an exclusively first-world thing?!
More credible than the people victimized by her? You make it sound as though Angelina is refuting some allegations of misconduct. The only ones accusing her of anything are people who weren’t there and are judging her from one paragraph in a standard puff piece. Has anyone talked to the kids and asked them about this…
Yeah I thought she came off better in the full transcript than she did in either her own statement or the initial profile.
It sounds to me like people aren’t believing her though....also kinda sounds like you’re making some pretty messed up statements about people who have battled and beaten drug addiction.
I don’t think the interview transcript contradicts Angelina Jolie’s account at all. The transcription has her quoting the person running the audition giving the rules of the game to the children, including that they’re going catch them taking the money (or cookie) and the kids should try to lie to them. It’s right in…
