I have seen true PTSD up close. It is BRUTAL. It is heartbreaking. Too, often nothing helps. If there is a chance that a couple of monitored sessions of therapist administer MDMA would restore the life of those who suffer — why in the holy hell would anyone have a problem with it?

Here’s the big problem with LASIK and its ilk. You only get 2 eyes and they tend to be essential equipment — so if something go even mildly wrong, it’s going to have a very serious impact on your life.
