Hahahaha, 200s forum? Good lord that’s sad.

When was that, 15 years ago? $1400 is a shitbox UJM in pieces that hasn’t turned over since the clinton era these days.
Given that Triumph and BMW are both releasing 1200cc “scamblers” in 2016, I’d say it’s not that unique. Especially as they’re the prime competitors with Ducati in this space.
So, what’s different about dropping a used bike you paid 5k for, and dropping a new bike you paid 7k for? Fairings, pegs, bars, levers, etc don’t get cheaper because it’s older.
It’s a 7k bike dude. That’s nothing. Not all “new riders” are broke dick 17 year olds working 12 hours a week at Jimmy Johns.
No, 800cc isn’t a “big” engine in anyone’s book. And I’m an “enthusiast”, I like power. Living in the good ol’ USA, we don’t have to deal with bullshit taxation schemes and license restrictions. Give me more displacement and more torque.
It’s an extended practice session under race conditions. 60 laps of figuring out exactly how the cars will race. You don’t get much side to side in actual practice.
Metal, dummy.
It actually wasn’t the first race of the season until the Mid 80s. Before that they ran riverside and a few other California tracks before the 500.
“Because they’ve always done it that way”.
Frankly, with 15+ years of club racing and experience in a Porsche cup car, yea, I’d probably be within her times at a similar track. Obviously not the ‘ring, as she’s got probably 20 years of experience with that track as opposed to my ~4 hours, but on a neutral location? Possibly. Looking at the times from the Rolex…
Cars qualify, top 12 (or 24, depending on the track) go on to the next round. At short ovals and road courses, The top 12 go on to the third round. Next group sets the pole and top 12 positions.
Except, ya know, he wasn’t struggling with the equipment last season and finished second overall in the championship and had probably the best season he’s had in a decade.
That’s more for bikes. That said, she’s wearing a HANS and has a halo seat. Her head isn’t going anywhere.
Eh, she’s good, let’s not go nuts and say she’s “great”. She was about 7 seconds off the pace of her team mates in the Frikadelli GT3 Porsche at the Rolex 24 a few weeks ago, which kinda puts her at about an Ed Brown/Tracy Krohn level.
It’s not so much a mandate, as what tires are available. They brought studded snows, because it’s a snow race. They don’t have gravel tires available, and can’t really fly a whole bunch in on a days notice.
Mid Ohio’s 2016 schedule is up, I didn’t see any of their dates listed.
Ebay bro. If you’re skinny and short you can make out like a bandit. I’ve picked up a few different sets of used one pieces for under 200 bucks.
Layered up, full face helmet & neck gaiter. If you’re dicking around on a dirt bike in the snow it’s no different than a snowmobile.
It’s obvious you’re not familiar. Again, consider an oval track to be essentially two sweeper turns on a road course. You’ve got braking points, turn ins, apexes, and a line that changes nearly every lap as the track rubbers in, the tires fall off, brakes wear out, etc. Now factor that you have to be pretty much…
