To myself, with love.
As a Marc with a ‘C’ I never specify at starbucks - like jesus christ, just let me get my coffee and enjoy the convo with any other Mark there when we reach for the same drink.
Unfortunately this functions similarly in the private sector where the management doesn’t know what the IT department does and the IT department knows how to goose whatever numbers are there to provide a baseline. If an outside observer can’t determine exactly what happens under IT, 10 and 1 thing look the same,…
This dumbass never wants another role again, does he?
They go poorly a lot of times because of the presupposition that I’m only bringing it up to ‘pat myself on the back’ and get on the good graces of women and specifically feminists.
I mean, sure, if it’s impossible to rule out the possibility that this is in fact a covert advertisement for a badass drummer who has a badass wood block in her kit.
Being an IT professional, this can definitely be the case and often times is. On the other hand, C-Suite goombas only understand the value of their IT budget when something bad happens.
Holy shit, Nick Saban was responsible for Power Rangers? ;)
Surely all those places without strip clubs are bastions of egalitarian society, right?

Blaming the jaywalker doesn’t make for less jaywalkers, does it?
I think it’s easier to sort out the unknown of why the car failed than sort out the reality that people jaywalk. An automated car that can’t account for the reality that jaywalkers exist is kinda...bad?
‘Slightly better than average so I can entertain myself during my commute’ is the standard some are pining for.
To wit, you can already use people who take public transportation as test cases in how people unburdened by the focus required to commute by car utilize their time. My feeling is that it’s not exactly productive in the way proponents imagine. Speaking as someone with a mere 15 minute bus commute.
People with long commutes are gleefully anticipating this technology for the privilege of being advertised to and entertained more. That’s it and that’s all.
Fuck lifestyles.
Care to explore automated dead ends as well?
“If I could only entertain myself, I would be fine with the hoops I have to jump through to make it work”
The allure is maintaining a car centric status quo while taking away a significant gripe about driving itself. I’d argue that the perceived time benefits are also a wash because the utility of that time is going to be spent on totally self indulgent things and who am I gripe about how other people spend their time…
If you want to get really frugal with about 80% of the same benefits of an autonomous car, get a bus pass and live in a city that isn’t shit.
